The costuming is the last thing, I'd worry about. So the folks in the future are going through a bizarre phase of retro nostalgia and can't quite get the period clothing exactly right. I notice the women on the show are all wearing brassieres which is a complete anachronizism for the 19th century. But, would it matter in hundreds of years. Does it matter now? Would the show be better or worse with costuming borrowed from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? From A Christmas Carol? From Shaka Zulu? If the stories get good enough it won't matter what they wear or if they continue to speak in "You onery cayouse!" talk.

The real question about Saffron is as you said why doesn't any of the locals notice her. Having criminals preying on outlying colonies; having them move quickly from one place to another doesn't bother me. You could chalk it up to 'we thought she was with you,' but you'd think someone would at least say congratulations to Mal. I guess the best explanation is that Saffron followed the general discription of a local wedding, but not the correct particulars. It would look like she was just playing around with a friend.

I am probably full of it with all this, but I'm glad to have something to discuss. Thanks Darby!
