But, I've read many of the folks on your list. Farmer's Riverworld series is one I really enjoyed.

I'd call Laura Ingall's Little House books and the TV series westerns if for no other reason than the setting. As a strange coincidence, Melissa Gilbert who played Laura had a small but memorable role in the Babylon 5 series. She played the wife of the second commander of the space station. That fellow was played by Bruce Boxleitner Melissa's real-life husband.
