-"Triple Entente":Britain FRance & Russia
-Triple Alliance: Germany Austro-Hugarian & Italy
-2 rivials were Britian & Germany
-Anglo-German rivalry may have been the most important under lying source of tension that lead to WWI
-immediate cause of war was assassination of Austro-Hungarian Empires' heir tot he thron Archduke FRanz Ferdinand by Sebian
-countires and the support system: Ausrtia called on Germany & Sebia called on Russia
-Aug 3 Germany declared war on Russia & France & invaded Beligum
-Aug 4 Britain declared war on Germany b/c of alliance w/ France
-Italy neutral then came in on side of britian& French
-Turkey(Ottoman Empire) & small nations entered the fight
-less than a year entire Euro. & asia contient was in the war
