Economic and social results of the war
-economic boom in the 1914& grew more in 1917
-industrial production soared & manufacturing expanded
-empolyment increased greatly
-agricultural economy profited
*Great Migration
-100 of 1,000 blacks went from south to northern indusrtial cities
-resulted in a "push/pull"
-pull: prospect of factory jobs& to live in communities w/ more freedom & independece
-push: poverty, debtness racism & violence
-older est. black residents did not like new blacks; fear of more white racism
*Race Riots
-black communities expanded
-rubed up against white neighbor hoods
-had violent results
*New Opportunities
-women during war worked industrial jobs
-feminists hoped that it would change society
-after war women either were fired or quit
