A. FDR Nominated
1. Republicans renominated Hoover
2. Democrats nominated Franklin Delano Roosevelt
a. Roosevelt was already a well-known political figure
b. Roosevelt presented himself as more energetic and imaginative than Hoover
c. during acceptance speech, he stated “I pledge you, I pledge myself, to a new deal for the American people.”
i. hence the “New Deal”
B. Election
1. Roosevelt won by a landslide
