Subject: ch. 25 Depression Families

*families who were used to the lifestyle of the 1920's were set back because of the reduction of incomes and unemployment
*some working class families saw their prosperity in the 1920's disappear in the 1930's
*women went back to sewing and making their own clothes for their families
*other women began to work at home with jobs like taking in laundry,and selling baked goods
*there was a decline in the divorce rate, but largly because a divorce was too expensive for some
*the breaking up of families, however, was a comman coencidence because the working men were too embarrassed to stay at home and feel the humiliation of not providing for their families
*the marriage and birth rates declined dramaticly for the first timesince the early nineteenth century
