-mid 1930s Americans resumed moviegoing habits
-movies were also less expensive
-Will Hayes censored the movies
-Louis B. Mayer or Jack Warner could single handly decide the fate of movie projects
*Walt Disney
-1930s was when the company started
-it started w/ Wlats cartoon of Micky MOuse
-the its full length movie was Snow White
*Adaptations of NOvels
-"The Wizard of OZ" & "GONe With the WInd"
*Women Roles in movies
-usually wives, mothers or sexually attractive people
engaged in elaborate flirtation w/ men
*Mae West
-had a series of successful films
-she played overtly sexual woman manipulating men through her attractivness
-independent producer of films
-few films included important African-American characters
