*Most of the literature of the time was escapist and romantic like the popular movies and radio shows
*two of the biggest selling novels were romantiic sagas: GOne with the wind and Anthony Adverse.
*local magazines focused on faashion and art
*Life Magazine was one of the most popular magazines of the time and began to be published in 1936
*it devoted some parts of it to politics and to the economic conditions in the country at the time
