Patterns of Income and Consumption
-mass distribuation goods less expensive and made income go up
*Rising Income
-rose for everyone but at a uneven rate
-middle class was doinf fairly well
-working-class saw a rise to puit not very much
-industries with female,african-americansor mexicans working saw very small increase
*New Merchandising Techniques
-invention of sewing machine caused ready-made clothes
-a new industry of fashion came
-women became concerned about clothes
-tin cans changed food
-refrigerated railroad cars help ship food so it would not go bad
-artifically frozen ice mnade it possible for ice boxes in the home
-these ment improved diets and life expectency rose 6 years
