National GOvernment
-gov. in Washington responsible for handing out mail,keeping national military,conducting foriegn policy, collecting tariffs&taxes
-federal gov. supported economic development of the nation
-they really help push the rail roads by giving them grants for federal land
-use of military force to protect capitlism(ex.Pullman strike)
-gave out pensions to Civil War Veterans of the north who retired
-some reformers like the pension thing
-some thought it was better to eliminate it was a way to fight corruption& PARTY RULE
-civil war generation died out so did the pension
-u.s in 19th century was a place w/out a modern national gov.
-national leaders were concernd with winning elections & controling thier financial aid
