In WA, I imagine you are more likely to feel like one corner of the great cricket-playing triangle that links us to South Africa and the Indian subcontinent. When I moved from Sydney to Darwin, the sense of "isolation" that is so famously "Australian" suddenly seemed a bit silly - you can just about swim to Timor, if the crocs are kind to you.
