Date Posted: 15:42:51 10/30/04 Sat As a South African, although a naturalised Brit these days and proud of it, I can state categorically that we left mainly because of loonies like that! Note also the interesting fact that Mr De Boer's comments were largely incoherent for speakers of English. The Boeremense are not just offensive racists but also primitive savages who make the native populations of South Africa seem like the most sophisticated exemplars of the European aristocratic tradition. When we first took the Cape during the Napoleonic conflict, we tried to treat them as just another African tribe, and they didn't like it one bit; but I think, as recent history has shown, we were right. A South African mate of mine once told me a story about his grandfather, when he first fled Nazi Germany for the safety of the Empire and ended up in Jo'Burg. He set himself up as a travelling salemen going round the Dutch/Boer farms in the veldt around Transvaal. One night, he ended up very late at the house of a Boer family, and as weather conditions were deteriorating he offered them a few shillings to put him up for the night and give him dinner (Boers don't give you anything gratis). Over dinner, it came up in the conversation that he was Jewish, at which point the family asked him to remove his shoes, with great interest and exitement. He eyed them cautiously, and asked why. They said that they wanted to see his cloven hooves, as they had never met a genuine demon before. If I thought that 'white South Africans' (read: Boers) were to have anything to do with this Federation, I would refuse to have any part in it. The FC is an organisation to bring together the british nation which has been fractured by twentieth century history; it is not a society for White Nationalists who were booted out of power by the ANC; and it is not about bringing in alien, former subject-peoples whose political culture is a distasteful anathema to our own. Date Posted: 18:37:18 10/31/04 Sun I have never visited South Africa. I have South African in-laws and friends, all of British descent, and they are all good fellows. When I have spoken to Black South Africans (admittedly "British" educated ones) I have been able to communicate with them about cricket and discuss things in a generally civilised manner. We have found common ground. Every experience that I have had dealing with Dutch South Africans has been negative. They have been invariably rude charmless boors, no maners at all. In what way are these totally disagreeable peasants civilised? They are not. What value would these barbarians bring to this federation? None. I am content that we own all of South Africa's gold mines without needing any political involvement with the Dutch South Africans. Oh and I think that SA wines are absolutely dreadful piss and a bastard Boer plot to destabilise the British economy by inflicting the three-day hangover upon the unsuspecting consumer. This is clearly absurd, since Afrikaans can only be used to express three ideas, and two of them are wrong. The truth is that they can only speak in slogans, amongst which the following are notable: "Long live the white South Arica!", "It's a dirty Marxist/liberal/Catholic/whatever plot!", and "I swear, officer, that man was dead when I found him..." He told me that he was only exposed to racial violence once. He was escorting a lady of mixed heritage through a park in Joberg when a group of AWB pinheads chased them a distance. Date Posted: 19:40:30 11/01/04 Mon Lots of South Africans have moved to Ipswich, "English", Black and Afrikaaner. I get on fine with all I know, including a teacher, rugby coaches and some mates. Also my visit to South Africa was very enjoyable and scary. We went to a party in a town called Vryheid (in Natal), a black boy who we knew took us to the house because he knew the way better than us and took us back. When at the party all the Afrikaaners were really nive to us, then we noticed that the black boy was sitting in a corner by himself, talking to no-one. We asked one of the Afrikaaner girls why he wasn't drinking and talking. Her reply was scary, "because he's is a dirty fucking Kaffir". So much for the new South Africa.
