Given that so much synthesis already exists between the two countries, what do you think of the chances of bringing about a proper union? More especially, I'd be interested in hearing an NZ perspective: do New Zealanders feel the same about Australia as Canadians about the USA? Or Ireland about the UK? Date Posted: 16:54:16 12/05/04 Sun On the other hand, people from Sydney and Melbourne are viewed with exactly the same suspicion from Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, etc. As to accents, I find that an educated Australian accent and an educated New Zealand accent are extremely difficult to distinguish.
