] Date Posted: 23:31:58 12/06/04 Mon In reply to: Jim (Canada) 's message, "Canadian Embassies" on 22:41:53 12/06/04 Mon Can any of the Australians/Canadians tell me if your passports have the same statement on the inside front cover as ours? It states: "Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State Requests and requires in the Name of Her Majesty, all those whom it may concern, to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary." Date Posted: 00:22:08 12/07/04 Tue It remains shocking that Britain is now the only Commonwealth country without a blue passport. Makes me want to froth at the mouth, or, more practically, do what I have done, which is to go down to Smythsons on Bond St and buy an original-style blue and gilt passport cover (without, of course, the phrase "European Union" at the top). I recommend it to everyone and they even sell online! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 00:47:05 12/07/04 Tue 'The Secretary of State for External Affairs Canada requests, in the name of Her Majesty the Queen, all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without hinderance, and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.' This, along with the French translation is on the inside front cover. As well, on the back cover, it states 'In countries where there is no Canadian office, application may be made in an emergency to the nearest British diplomatic or consular office.' Nice to know that at least on our passport they acknowledge our connection. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:21:39 12/07/04 Tue However, this was a suggestion for a current passport holder, prior to the creation of the FC - mainly to get that bleedin "European Community" or whatever it is called today, off my passport. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
