] Date Posted: 17:01:23 11/23/04 Tue PM Paul Martin announced this morning that Canada's three remaining territories, not yet Provinces, should receive more devolutionary powers and should become full Provinces soon. Date Posted: 17:44:26 11/23/04 Tue Given that these territories - soon to be provinces, it would seem - are pricipally inhabited by 'first nation' peoples, to what extent, do you think, would they be willing or able to fit into the FC? Are they, like the Maoris of New Zealand, thoroughly loyal to the Crown and the Commonwealth (more so than the British settlers' descendents, in fact)? Date Posted: 18:51:12 11/23/04 Tue The First Nations of Canada are generally very loyal to the Crown as their treaties were signed directly with the Crown and not with the Canadian Government. I also believe that members of the Royal Family are honorary chiefs. Native land is Crown land, after all. When Nunvaut was created, the Queen was asked to open the new legislature, which she did. I am sure that new Northern Provinces of Yukon, North-west Territories (which would have to be renamed) and Nunavut would be quite loyal, like Ontario and British Columbia.
