I think you are right that to get New Zealand on board, you would have to give them the kind of representation that Scotland currently has at Westminster. This is another good reason for advocating Aus/NZ unification first. However, 1300 MPs would require a new Parliament building, and would raise the question of what we do with the existing Parliaments, Two of which, are great historical assets. I liked the rotation idea mentioned earlier. I am coming round to the idea of having a reasonably small Federal Government, with around 600 MPs. With this Government being responsible for foreign policy, defence, legal and constitutional matters, there is less of an argument for smaller, more representative constituencies.
