  Just wanted to let everyone know about some fun I had with my buddy today. He just bought the Taylormade R9 adjustable driver for about $400. He was all proud and showing it off to everyone. I then proceeded to knock it about 15 yards past him all day long, using my 1iron driver. I also hit all but 2 fairways, and those weren't by much. Accuracy is more important than distance, but having both is awesome. By the way, I am 5'7'', 160lbs, 37 years old. My buddy is 6'1", 205lbs, and 30 years old. I wish you could see his face. As I always say, buy the clubs, they will change your game!

  I just received the Used-Demo set of irons I purchased from you and I'm very impressed with the excellent condition they're in. Some of them look like they've maybe hit a few balls at most while the others look almost brand new.   David,
  About 2 weeks ago, I asked you about trimming my clubs because my wife incorrectly measured my WTF. Well, I ordered new grips, trimmed them how you told me, and went out and fired a personal best 77 this morning. Every shot was right on target, and I could set up with the ball further back like I wanted to. I have been playing golf for 25 years, the last 1 with 1irons, and I have never played so well as today. Thank you for all your help, you are a golf guru and a hall of famer in my book. I hope you get some recognition for the help you have given the average joe. I turn 37 on Monday, and thanks to 1iron golf, I have many years of good golf ahead of me.
  
  Again, if any of you are considering buying the clubs, do it. Then go to the range, do the work, and start enjoying the game and taking your buddies' money.

  I'm you're typical "buy a game" kind of guy and over the past ten years I've owned sets of Callaways, Pings, Nike, and Titliest golf clubs with no improvement in my game from set to set. About a year ago I ran across the 1 Iron Golf website and became convinced that to improve my level of play I had to eliminate as many of the variables as possible and work on one swing. At first I bought the Wood/Iron combo set plus the driver but within a month I owned every club that 1 Iron Golf sells.
  
  I spent the first couple of weeks at the range alternating between iron days, fairway wood days, and driver days. Once I got used to the feel of the clubs and replaced all my old bad habits with the 1 Iron Golf swing instruction I started hitting the ball better than I ever thought I could do. Crisp clean ball striking with every iron and wood and 5 to 10 yards farther than I ever hit any golf clubs. I literally kill the driver.
  
  One year ago I was shooting in the mid 90's and today I'm shooting consistently in the mid 70's with an occasional high 60's round. I owe all of this to practice and my 1 Irons. Even though I'll go on record as stating that the 1 Irons are the best clubs ever made and I'll never go back to regular clubs again, you still have to devote time to practice. If you're not willing to do this then take up another sport because I'm living proof that you can't just go out and buy a game.

  I played a round of golf yesterday. First nine was not so good (46). Very first hole was water and I sailed it in the drink. It was not the clubs fault. It was me all the way. Back nine I shot (41). I would have shot a 39 if I hadn't put another one in the water. Not a fault of the 1 iron. It was my fault again. I can see that after a little more practice chipping that I will be shooting scores in the High 70s. Not bad for a 60 year old.
  
  By the way - side not. I was playing with my wife. She is about my hight. I had her hit the 5 iron, because that's the only club she likes in her old set. Guess what - she drilled it. After she hit the 5 a couple of more times I handed her the 3 iron (I didn't tell her that it was a 3 iron). You guessed it. She drilled it to. Now she is hooked on the 1 irons.

  Got my new 1-irons yesterday: 3I - LW. Clubs look and feel great and the grips are super. Took them to the range for the first time today and started drilling them from the start. Long, long, long, and straight down the pike. I hit all the irons and gained distance on every one over my old set. 3I carries about 200 yards high in the air and lands soft with little roll. I've got to adjust to the longer distances before I play my first round but I'm expecting some great things from these clubs. I got Mr. Lake's book a few weeks back and have been practicing a single swing with center of stance ball position in my backyard every night to get the hang of it. Because of this the transition was smooth as silk when I got the new clubs.

  I've had my full set of 1 Irons (woods and irons) for two years and have never played better golf in my life. I've gone from a 20 handicap to a 9 handicap during this time and feel like my swing is improving every time I go out. That's pretty good for a 65 year old.
  
  I just ordered a second set that I'm going to keep in my car for road trips while my original set is going to stay at the club.

  In the for-what-it’s-worth department I bought the 5-PW, 3W, 5W and 7W combo and moved over to the 1 Iron system using that set. Nearly every golfer I know says they can't hit the 3 and 4 irons, and I was no exception. However, 11 months later I got up the nerve to order the 3 and 4 irons. I couldn’t have been more surprised.
  
  All the comments in the forum about 3 and 4 iron difficulties just didn't happen to me. What I think happened is by the time I had the new clubs in my hands I was already a true-blue 1 Iron guy, and there was absolutely no temptation to over-swing. Every hit is low and long using that nice easy tempo; just like I do with the 5 – PW.
  
  Perhaps others can benefit by totally ignoring the 3 iron until they get everything down. In my case it took the better part of a year. After that it’s just make that same ‘ol swing that works with every other club.
  
  I couldn’t be more pleased with my clubs and my new favorite club is my 3 iron. I have said to countless playing partners – I wouldn’t trade these clubs for any make or model on the market. And, I have a pass to the Nike store in Beaverton (very tough to arrange.) I may use Nike balls, but 1 Irons are superior to any clubs they sell. Perhaps I’ll tell Tiger the next time I see him.

  I got my 1 irons three weeks ago (#3 iron through the Lob Wedge). The first few trips to the range were nothing exciting as I could hit the #7 through the wedges fine but had difficulty with the #3 iron through the #6. I was starting to become frustrated and re-read through the playability tips that came with my clubs as well as all of the past newsletters that are available through the website. All I can say is WOW!! If anyone is experiencing trouble with these clubs then you're not following Mr. Lake's instructions precisely. If you read them thoroughly and apply them to your swing you'll be shooting lights out golf.
  
  My #3 and #4 irons are a dream to hit - long and straight with a high trajectory. I haven't seen a fat or thin shot in over a week and all shots feel as smooth as butter coming off the face of the club. Thank you Mr. Lake and 1 Iron Golf for a great set of clubs.

  I wanted to thank you for making golf enjoyable again. I'm 41 years old and been golfing for 32 years. In that time I've developed some pretty bad habits that have been difficult to overcome.
  
  I received my 1 Iron set last June and spent a lot of time on the range with them last summer. By the end of the golf season up here in the tundra I was hitting them ok but not real well. I was still short on my irons compared to my old set. This spring things started to come around and now in the last month and a half all I can say is WOW! I'm now hitting the ball consistently and I've gained 10 yards on every iron. The best part is I've never been able to hit any club above a 5 iron, now I can hit the 3 or 4 iron as easily as my PW.
  
  I think the best kept secret is your Driver. I've always been able to hit the Driver long just not anywhere close to straight. I've spent a small fortune on Drivers in the past buying into all of the hype about how they'll help me hit the ball straight. None of them ever did. It did take some time getting used to hitting the Driver from the center of my stance but once I did, again WOW! It makes a huge difference playing your second shot from the middle of the fairway with a short iron instead of punching out from behind a tree.

  I am the best range player around and I am having a terrible time moving from the range to the course. On the range it is the greatest ,straightest etc. When I go to the course I have the tendency to over swing and then Hook the ball badly. I am looking for the magic band-aid to make the transition to the course. I know this should be easy but after 40 years of conventional golf this has gotten the best of me.   I have a question for you. I was hoping you could help me out here. Since learning how to use your clubs I have become very very consistent throughout the bag and hit eveyr single club almost dead straight at will. My problem lies with my woods however and it is not a problem of accuracy but distance. I seem to hit my 3 wood the same distance as my driver. I hit them both very well and very straight with slight draw on both, both same ball position center of stance. Same swing and same distance, and it has perplexed me very much. I have tried so much to try to figure out what I might be doing wrong here. I tried teeing it up higher and lower and playing with ball position but nothing so far has worked. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong here? I am sure the driver should go at least 30 yards further then the 3 wood right? Thanks in advance for your help and I do love your clubs and quality.

  I got my 1 Irons last week and I can see the improvement already! I'm a 5 handicap player and I see a distinct improvement in my consistency along with additional distance across the board. I feel strongly that I can take my handicap down to 0 this summer with these clubs. I'll keep you posted.

  I have owned my set of 1 iron's for about 3 months and love the clubs. I have the 3-pw plus the Driver, 3 and 5 wood. I am 6'3" and weigh about 250 lbs. I hit these clubs a long way, with my PW going app 150 yards, and my driver about 310. The problem I have at the moment is controlling the distance on shorter shots 100-140 YDS. I can't afford to buy the GW,SW, & LW yet so I still have my short vokey wedges in the bag (which I can no longer seem to hit). What are some suggestions for limiting the distance on my PW.

  Ok you fans of the 1Iron golf system ! Today was the day ! I busted 80 ... I scored a 78 at my club today and won low score , low net and three skins ! A little over 2 months with my 1 Iron clubs ! And My handicap dropped another point ! I was scoring in the mid 90's to high 80's three months ago . I doubt if I will ever shoot in the 90"s again ! Knock on wood ! And I would also like to add that David's few pages on the golf swing has helped me more than any book or article that I have ever read ! Thanks to Dave and One ball position and One swing plane !!!!   I am very pleased with my new 1 Iron set. My order arrived about 10 business days after my order date. I have been playing golf for about 19 years and for the past two years have swicthed to a single axis swing.(no sway to the right.)I read the instructions while at the small practice range located on the golf course I play regularly. These clubs felt so good right out of the box. I have scored anywhere from the mid 70's to the high 80's for the past 15 years. Handicap has been 14 for the past year. I purchaced the 1 Iron system because I was really looking for some improvement and consistancy. Well I have both. Sorry, I didn't follow your instructions because after a few swings with the wegde and 9 iron, I knew I made right choice in clubs. I am a member of a tough nine hole course in Asheboro N.C. Well, I had to try them out which I wouldn't recommend to everyone because the instructions make since when something new is being introduced. I shot 35 even par right out of the box from the blue tees! I putted and chipped well that day which contributed to a low score. I ordered the 5,7 woods,5-pw set. The woods and irons are the best I have played since picking up a club 19 years ago; that is why they are staying in the bag.
  The next week would be the test because I was playing with some friends at another course. The five wood hits so crisp and long, I used it off the tee on most holes. I only get 200-240 out of my driver or three wood. I was hitting my 1 iron 5 wood 220 plus. My playing group thought I had an illegal club because every tee shot was the same distance as their driver or a few yards shorter,or longer,and straight every time. They were using the new big name big price clubs.(Taylor Made R7 and Nike.)Oh yea, I shot a 4 over par 76 that day with upset witness I might add. A shorter club with longer distance, now who would have thought that would work. I got ten yards more with every iron v/s my traditional set. The 5 & 6 iron took more work at the driving range to get use to the short shaft, but now I notice at my home course par 3's I would have to back off one club v/s my old set. I am striking the ball the best I have in years and I havent had the clubs 30 days yet. I play 3 or 4 days a week and my scores have been from the mid 70's to low 80's.
  On the days I shoot in the low 80's it is usually beause of poor chipping, putting or bad shot with traditional 3 wood or driver. I have already dropped 4 strokes off my handicap and have not shot above 84 at any course since playing these clubs. I ordered the 1 iron 3 wood for those long uphill par 4's. When it arrives I am removing and selling my traditonal driver and 3 wood. I have played in our town City-Am tournament for the past two years, winning 5th flight the 1st year, and playing in the fourth flight the second year but not playing well enough to place in the top four in flight. My goal is to improve by flight and score each year, so I will let your forum know the results in June 09. One swing plane with every club creates great confidence, which is essential in golf. I know I will improve. Thanks to 1 Iron Golf, I am no longer frustrated with golf or looking for new clubs to improve my game. The game is fun again.

  I heard about 1irongolf listening to he Golf Smarter Podcast and I really like the idea of single length clubs as - playing golf for a rather short time - I´m always fighting with different swing planes.
  
  I´m really thinking about purchasing a set of 1irongolf clubs, nevertheless a few questions occured:
  
  1. You are talking about custom fitting taking W-T-F measurement into account. But isn´t there any individuality lost by forcing every golfer with the same W-T-F number into the exact same posture? No room for someone bending his keens or upper part of body a little bit more or less? Might be easy to change for a "two-year-golf-veteran" like me, but for someone who has 20 or 30 years of golf behind this might be a real challenge.
  
  2. In a former posting there was a conversation about sponsored equipment for tour pros. I agree with the statement that they would do almost everything for money and therefor of course play the newest clubs of their sponsoring golf company. But why don´t we see any tour pro useing single length clubs if these clubs are that better and more reliable? Wouldn´t tour pros take every advantage they could to improve their game and to match more wins?
  
  and 3. As ordering of 1irongolf clubs is only possible in sets, what happens if for any reason one of the clubs would be broken after the one year warranty? Would I have to purchase a whole new set of iron clubs? Sounds to me a quite expansive way compared to a common set of clubs where you can get single clubs off the shelf any time.

  I read Pedro's post of 4/27/09 with fascination. I'm new to 1Irons -- I have the iron set, the driver and the 3 wood. The driver is very controllable but, for some reason, I don't get that much out of it. On the other hand, the 3 wood is the greatest club I've ever swung. The balance, the feel at impact, and the missle-like launch is fabulous. I have felt that a driver based on the materials and design of the 3 wood would be a world-beater. I'm going to order the 5 wood soon. Then I read that Pedro has an "old 12 degree steel driver" and I would really like to know if there are any still around. David, do you still have any in the warehouse? At only 5' 8" with a W-T-F of 33.0" I might have trouble finding one, but I'd really like to try. Any chance of re-introducing a steel driver with a smaller, aerodynamic club head? I think titanium and big, air-catching, dumpster-on-a-stick drivers are overrated.   I received my used/demo irons today and I can't believe the shape they're in. Except for a ball mark on the face of a couple of the irons they look brand new - I'm completely amazed at the quality plus the fact that I saved $200!!!!
  
  These irons have high quality written all over them and they feel great. I can't wait to hit the range tomorrow and give them a thorough try. I'll keep you posted, and thanks for a great product and customer service.

  Excellent advice from David Lake regarding a compact swing with in-to-out swing path.
  
  I have found the best way to achieve a similar result is to ask pupils to keep their ELBOWS AS CLOSE TOGETHER AS POSSIBLE THROUGHOUT SWING. This forces a body generated swing and the right elbow stays close to the right hip.
  
  David's advice about avoiding lateral swaying (the spine acts like a fixed post and everything rotates around it) is a great swing thought.
  
  Pupils who adopt this advice immediately notice cleaner crisper contact and a draw. Once this compact swing is grooved, distance is noticably greater.
  
  My old golf instructor taught me the importance of keeping the elbows close together many years ago. He made me wear an old inner tube from a golf cart just above both elbows. It felt wierd and restrictive to start with but the improved contact. accuracy and distance convinced me he was correct. I believe Ben Hogan used this idea to good effect when proatising.

  The 1iron woods are simply insanely good. The 3 and 5 woods are must haves, once you get used to them there is nothing better in the market. I also use the older Steel 12o 1iron driver, My fairways hit when I use the driver is over 90% and when I miss its barely in the first cut. My woods are 41' and my driver is 42" In my foursome this weekend of course everyone had the new drivers the R9 Cobra and so on, I had my little 1iron cannon, 250 down the middle every time I used it. They were not happy with the new drivers they had after that..I sold drivers to two of them.They looked in my bag and asked me what gives?I dont use what I sell, I replied I used what works best...
  
  Now I work part time for a golf retailer and have a proform with all the OEM, the only thing OEM in terms of clubs in my bag is a putter. If David sold that I would have it...I was a low handicaper once now a strong 8, so with very little practice and 1 round a week if lucky I can still maintain a respectable skill level.
  
  Human nature is to want to go back to the OEM stuff once you start playing well with the 1irons, dont do it, they work for a reason and started to play well for a reason.

  I've played two rounds with my new 1 Irons after making a few trips to the range to get used to them - it takes a few range trips to get the feel and timing down. I hit all the irons long and straight and gained about 3 yards with every one over my old set. The biggest difference is the way the ball jumps off the clubface at impact. Very consistent ball striking with practically no miss-hits. The accuracy is truly awe inspiring and this is only after ten days with the clubs. I expect some real improvement in my game over the next few months as I continue to dial these in.

• Got my 1 Irons today -- John K, 12:21:40 04/18/09 Sat
  Got my clubs (3-PW) today (Saturday delivery at no extra cost - thanks Dave!). They were delivered while I was playing, so I took them to the driving range and hit about 80 balls.
  
  All in all, my first impression is positive. I like the way these clubs feel and I was amazed at how many center of the clubface hits I had.
  
  I hit the 3 and 4 irons pretty low though, and wasn't overly thrilled with the distance, either. I've been hitting Adams hybrid 3 and 4 irons for a few years, and full disclosure, I hit those on the low side as well, but seems like 10+ yards longer than the 1 Irons. Any thoughts on this?
  
  The short irons are amazing - straight, high, easy to hit and easy to chip with.
  
  If it doesn't rain here tomorrow I'll be on the course with the new clubs for the first time. Wish me luck.

  We received the following email recently:
  
  In my 10 years plus of membership of Bermagui Country Club I had never won the coveted monthly medal, until 1 Iron came to the rescue last Saturday. I am now the proud owner of the April 2009 monthly medal – thank you, kind Sir.
  
  My partners/opponents were stunned at the ease and accuracy of use of all clubs while the driver gave that extra zip off the tee that had been missing. None of us had, or have, any doubt that my handicap will tumble towards the much, much lower levels that I achieved many years ago while youth still prevailed.
  
  Unlike many of your correspondents I did not achieve instant greatness on receipt of my set of 1 Irons. I most certainly straightaway noticed the difference and the wonderful feel of the clubs although initially I could not replicate the feats of some of your correspondents.
  
  Belief in your 1 Iron concept kept me going and I have improved inexorably since receiving them just on a year ago. Other previous new sets of clubs would always work for a few weeks, sometimes months, but then fade into disuse through continued lack of success. Not so for your clubs which improve my game markedly in some respect with every outing.
  
  To give you a rough idea here are some figures:
  
  In the year or so prior to having the set of 1 Irons I was playing at an horrific 40% over handicap on average. Only the very occasional 'good' game saved me from descent into Hell. In the first 6 months of owning and learning to use the 1 Irons my average had dropped to under 30% over handicap. Over the past 6 months this has gone further down to just over 20% above handicap while the most recent 2 months has seen this figure fall to between 15% and 18% above.
  
  These figures may not sound or look spectacular but all golfers may well be surprised, if not shocked, to find out that their average percentage over handicap lies at a much higher level than they'd ever have considered.
  
  Competition wins have gone from exceedingly rare to an almost regular occurrence since hefting the 1 Irons. My handicap, which had shot out from its low of 10 some 3 or 4 years ago to a very worrying 18 (almost 19 actually) a year ago, has now become a downward spiraling 15 (the actual figure is 14.5 as of Saturday's medal win). 1 Iron has reversed a terrible trend of long standing.
  
  I have no doubts, nor do my regular partners, to tell you the truth, that this trend will continue until the good man upstairs decides “This is as far as I can allow a man of his advanced years to improve”. Hopefully he will make that figure one that I have so far, in a long golfing career, failed to achieve – a single figure handicap. It sure feels headed all the way there. Now, won't that be something?

  Hi Folks.
  
  I am interested in purchasing some 1Irons, but have a few questions for those of you who own them in hopes of helping me make my purchasing decision.
  
  Wedges
  
  Do you play 1Iron wedges?
  Have you cut down the length of your 1 iron wedges?
  Did you purchase 1Iron wedges to go back to your conventional wedges?
  
  Long Irons
  
  Do you play your 1Iron 3 iron?
  Do you play your 1Iron 4 iron?
  Have you replaced your 3 or 4 iron with either a 1Iron fairway wood or a convention hybrid club?
  
  My questions are based on the following...
  
  I have always had problems hitting full wedge shots from the fairway or rough... I don't hit them thin, but off the hozel. It doesn't always happen of course, but enough that my confidence gets rattled. I was thinking that I would just get a set of conventional wedges (PW,GW,SW,LW) made, all the same lie angle and weight and have them built to a PW length. (which I hit well)
  
  I have a 21* and 24* hybrid club. I hit the 24* very well, but lack consistency with the 21*. So was thinking of having the lie angle and weight modified and the shaft cut down so that they would match that of the 24*.
  
  I would use 1Irons to fill in the gap between the 24* hybrid and the PW.

  I've had an interest in your clubs for some time now, and after hearing your interview on Golf Smarter, I'm probably going to buy a set, but I had a question for you. My swing is very steep, similar to Nicklaus' (but not nearly the same results). In Jack's video, Golf My Way, he talks about one swing for al clubs. I figure this plays right into the 1 Iron philosophy, but I wanted to see what your thoughts were on it. Will the 1 Iron Golf system benefit someone with a steeper swing plane more than someone with a shallow plane?

  O k Golfers ! My hadicap is stuck at 15 . I have not won a Skin or Low net in our group of 40 players in two months ... Until last weekend !!! 3 skins and shared 1/2 of low net twice ! That is from 10 Days , 2 rounds and 4 trips to the range with Dave's 1Iron"s !!! And from reading and doing every thing he says to do in his book ! His words of wisdom have even helped me with my Taylor Made Driver and 3wood . When my swing starts to go bad on me , I slow down my swing and simply re- play Dave's words in my head and put every thing back in to first gear . 3/4 swings and 1/2 if need be and I am right back on track ! Even my chipping is going great guns because I am using the same length shafts , Golfer's ... It's just so much LESS to think about . Can not wait until I don't thing at all ! I will let you all Know when I break 80 . And I will !! P.S. I have not kept my clubs a secret but nobody seems to notice the shafts being the same . Playing in a Scamble this weekend and I will be the strongest 15 hdcper there !

  Hello everyone, Had my first practice this weekent went awsome took just a few balls to groove my swing with my 1irons, disclaimer I have both the 1irons and my own I built and use as a second set or when friends come over..
  
  I hit my driver pretty good also a couple of pushes at first but started to release and bang down the middle with a tiny draw. I was never a long hitter but I was about 235-245, when I was warmed up I got about 255-260 out of my little 42" cannon. Putting is easy for me so just a few putts just to recal what it felt like.
  
  I spent the winter at the gym doing lots of core, strength and flexibilty training and that I think made the difference. I got these dvd'd series plenty cheaper than fredericks golf at over 100.00, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmJwXz6gvBk&feature=related

  the dvd's are worth the money under 40.00 and lots more.
  
  I thought I would pass that on just a little gem a friend of mine passed on to me.
  
  By the way shot a 40 first 9 of the year from the back T's
  Not a par 3 by the way. So 1irons+proper training+smart practice=a very happy golfer and I dont do polirics....

  The irons and fairway woods are working pretty good, but I'm having big trouble with the driver.
  I've been to the range four times with it and can't say I've had one shot that was as good as an average shot from my long shafted Taylormade.
  The only shots that have any trajectory is if I hit it close to the crown. The typical shot is a low push with quite a bit of fade. I've moved the ball forward which helps a little, but I'm not seeing much progress. I can hit the 7 wood (off the deck) and get the ball further in the air.

  Your podcast with fred made so much sense to me I practice with an old steel shafted 7 iron in my back yard and play with graphite Titliest AP2. But I always feel that my swing is better using the old 7 iron the weight seems to carry through and I don't have to think about staying behind the ball or keeping my head to my right through the swing because it just happens naturally.   I took a step forward and ordered a set of irons, driver, 3 wood, and the full wedge setup. I've been reading all of David's articles and have a difficult time with the different length clubs as it is. My wife finally got me to try golf 2 years ago and it is a wonderful relaxation sport that we both enjoy. I did cut my starter set to the same length and have been totally amazed at the increase in ball contact and driving ability, although I am seeing and understanding David's concerns with doing that with the different weights. The increase of ball contact made me a believer in David's clubs and design and I am very excited about the arrival of my new clubs!!

  David, went to NC last weekend and played several courses in the Pinehurst area. The last day we played at a brutal track called Tobacco Road in Sanford. I am proud to tell you that I shot an 89 with my 1irons. This course is mostly waste area, and I was by far the most accurate player in my group. I managed to stay in the grass on all but 1 hole.   Just curious about one thing. I understand why with your clubs you need a center of stance to achieve the best results but if you have your driver in center of stance it would seem to me that the driver would be slightly open or hooded. Is your drivers perfectly square at center position?

  David, I own a set of your current 1-iron clubs and I also have used the previous version of CERs. I echo many of the compliments others have stated regarding the quality of the clubs, outstanding condition of the demo clubs, excellent distance and customer service. Thanks again for a great product.
  
  The problem with the archer is that I tend to switch back and forth between a conventional swing and a single axis swing. I am more comfortable with a s/a swing, but my 1-irons perform better for me with a conventional swing. My s/a swing does not resemble the "swinging in the barrel" concept you recommend. My conventional swing does.
  
  I believe that if I can combine your clubs with my s/a swing, I will greatly improve my scores. I know you and your clubs are "swing neutral", but I am interested in your thoughts and the thoughts of other members of the forum. My recollection is that you have also used both swing systems.

  I have used my new clubs on the driving range and one round of golf. On the range : The first day was a joke. Nothing felt right, but remember that these are new and different clubs and I needed to go with the flow... The following range trips got better and when I realized I had to REALLY SLOW down the balls began to fly long and true.
  
  I am now getting about 160 to 170 from my 5 iron. About the same distance as with my old irons. The big difference is that all the shots are consistantly down the middle. I used to get well over 200 from my old 7 wood and 225 with my old 5 wood. I didn't even carry a 3 or driver before. Don't need them. With the new 5 and 7 woods I am getting about the same distance but the new woods are much easier to hit. I expect as I continue to grove the one swing my shots and game will get much better. By the way, another big advantage to this system is that deciding what club to use is much easier - because I no longer worry about the difference in the length of the club causing my shots to be off target.
  
  My round of golf was not a record breaker but the ball flew to the middle of the fairway on all well hit shots.
  
  I am happy so far and would recomment these clubs to anyone that really hits a great 7, 8, or 9 in their current set.

  I just received my new set of lefty demo irons, and they were carefully packaged and in pristine condition with the exception of one or two scuff marks on two clubs. If you are confident in the single length theory and don't feel like it's a big risk to forego the 30 return period, the demo sets seem like a great way to save a few bucks.
  
  Unfortunately, we have a long winter ahead of us here in New England, and I am nursing a cracked rib to boot. I won't be swinging the clubs for a few weeks.
  
  In the meantime, I am wondering if there are any Single Axis or Natural Golfers out there who can share any tips on adjusting to the 1 iron clubs. Did you find that applying the swing tips enclosed with the clubs was enough to make the adjustment?
  
  By the way, I love the grips. They feel perfect for the single axis palm grip.

  I've talked to him several times and the phone has been buzzing (and emails flying) from relatives since then.
  At 7:30 I receive a tracking number from FedEx for my new clubs that I ordered on Tuesday morning.

  In the Moe Norman single axis swing that Todd and Tim Graves of the Graves Golf Academy teach, the club at set-up is aligned in a straight line with the trail arm that extends through the vertical center point of the back. I noticed that the drawings of the set-up position that you have on your Web site with the 1 Iron clubs extends higher up on the back closer to the shoulder blade level. If I take my address postion using the Moe Norman single axis set-up where my distance from the ball and posture (angle of back) align the club shaft with my trail arm and extending through the center point of my back would your 63.5 degree lie angle still be the optimum for this set-up? It would seem that as the height of the golfer changes if the lie angle were held the same that using the Moe Norman single axes set-up would produce different alignment points through the back or if aligned with the center of the back then the toe of the club would either be too upright at impact (even with shaft flex) or possibly even too flat of a lie angle at impact. Am I looking at this correctly? I have seen a lot of swing analysis comparison pictures and video that Todd and Tim Graves have collected from conventional pro golfers and the Moe Norman single axis swing - you can see a lot of this analysis on their Web site. I have seen where you have stated where the impact position (club position and swing plane)of conventional and single axis golfers is the same, and their comparison video shots show this to be true. The common position is that the shaft angle of the club at impact extends trough the trail arm through to the vertical center point of the back. I would like to get your thoughts on this and how the design of your 1 Irons would work in conjunction with the Moe Norman single axis set-up. I apologize for this post being so long, but I am very interested in your clubs if you can assure/convince me the 1 Iron lie angle will work with my Moe Norman single axis set-up. Thank you....   Have your clubs ever been tested with an "Iron Byron" machine? The machine can be set up to swing with the same speed again and again. If the only difference between clubs was the loft, Iron Byron could definitively prove what the effect of loft on distance is from one club to another.
  
  I'm having quite a discussion about clubs of all one shaft length on another forum. The opinion seems to be that while loft is significant, shaft length and flex accounts for a lot more than you are claiming.
  
  BTW, I've ordered your book as a first step towards potentially buying your clubs. I've been playing for a number of years, and taking plenty of lessons, getting nowhere despite constant practice.
  
  If I have a WTF measurement of 35 inches, how long would my irons and woods be in your system? I hit an 8-iron reasonably well, but anything longer starts giving me difficulties. For woods, I can hit a 7-wood pretty well, but I've never been able to hit a driver, even though I get them professionally fitted.

  I'm undecided on which set to go with. I've read the (entire?) forum and it appears that everyone that has the 5/7 wood (particularly 7) loves it, whereas a number of people have expressed difficulty with the 3 iron.
  My 6 iron swing speed is supposedly 75mph but I can get 150 yards out of my 6 iron infrequently and that is with a strong loft of 26 degrees. I may be delofting the club to get that.
  Previous fairway woods have not been good to me however, so I'm unsure whether that will work either.
  
  Suggestions greatly appreciated.

  David I have a question regarding the swing not the 1irons, wanted you opinion because I am all screwed up now. Messing around in a simulator that we do fittings, one day I decided to swing lefty. I had a happy accident and hit a 180yd 6 iron I thought no big deal a fluke tried it again, 190 again 200 again 195 again 210. was stunned.
  I can normaly hit my 6 iron righty about 165-175.
  
  I was so much more flexible it was insane.
  went to a driver yeap righty the same as usual ball speed of about 145-150, went lefty 153-161 ball speed. OMG???
  
  now I am completely at a lost I hit the ball so much farther lefty that I feel like takig this year off from playing and start making the change to lefty?
  
  I know what you must be thinking, But I went to the range to check my distances and they were almost the same with a different radar and a range finder..so I know the simulator was not acting up.. What do you think???
  
  I have been testing this lefty swing for a month now and the distances are consistantly longer than me playing righty..

  Dave. Do you know of any Golf outlet in Edmonton that I could find info and possibly your CLUBS.
  The concept makes sense, I believe I hit my 7 iron the most consistently of all my Irons. I am a 12 to 15 handicap, 69 years old, 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds.
  Have not been able to break through a 12 after 15 years of more or less steady golf. Played 80 rounds last year, being in Northern Alberta that's a lot.
  Am not comfortable ordering through e-mail but if that is the only option would not like to make a mistake and order something I don't really need.
  Can you convince me?

  The more I read about these clubs, the more I'm starting to believe in the concept. I do have a couple of questions though:
  
  1) How do you find the Sand and Lob wedges play out of the sand with the longer shafts?
  
  2) I've heard that some people are hitting full wedge shots with their 1iron wedges, much further than they were with their "conventional wedges". Do any of you recall how far you hit your conventional wedges vs your 1iron wedges? Do you wish 1iron golf made a 62-64 degree wedge because of the distance increases?
  
  3) This question is for David Lake... do you have the playing technique somewhere on your website that you package with each set of clubs you sell? I would be interested in reading it.

  I am interested in the 1 Iron concept, and would really like to check your clubs out. I am wondering if you visit any of the 2009 golf expos(specifically Boston MA)?   Also, I've noticed that you have some demo sets available for purchase. Do you have any that fit my profile?
  
  One other question--in the case of a short golfer--I am 5'5"--would there likely be a loss of distance in comparison to traditional length clubs? I appreciate that the single length of your clubs would lead to more consistant ball-striking, but it seems to me there would be a distance trade-off for a shorter golfer, particularly on the 3,4, and 5 irons.

  A bit over a month ago I ordered a set of the demo woods and clubs and then the individual irons to fill out the set (less the driver). I had them sent to my mother's place in Tasmania so I could collect them during my Christmas visit (I live in Indonesia - few US companies are willing to ship stuff there due to the risk of credit card frauds).
  
  So yesterday I arrived and decided Christmas had come early - no putting the clubs under the tree and being patient. I gleefully opened the boxes and ripped all the plastic off the clubs, laid them put in order on the floor and carefully inspected them.
  
  They are beautifully made, super high-quality clubs - the website gives you no idea how nice they are.
  
  There was a difference between the 'demo' clubs and the 'new' clubs - the new ones had an extra layer of plastic over the heads! That's it! Maybe someone else could tell the difference, but we (me, my dad, my brother-in-law) couldn't distinguish between them without knowing which ones were the demos.
  
  The demo sets are fantastic quality and a real bargain! If you are waiting, hoping the new sets will come on special - don't wait, just buy a demo set now!

  David, The 1 iron concept is great but I am experiencing problems. I am very used to taking divots with my old conventional clubs but this doesn't seem to work well with the 1 iron clubs Are the clubs built to be picked rather than pinching the ball against the turf. I have always played with my hand foward of the club head and this makes a very steep descent to the ball. Do you have any suggestions or do some of the other readers.   Being a lefty I'd like to know the length for my utility club16 degree 3 wood Taylor made as well as a taylor made drive quad. I'm 6'5" with a 38 inch measurment.Also can the shafts on my exisisting clubs be shortened or do I have to reshaft?

  I ordered a set of 1-Irons and got them this past Saturday. I'll admit that I was more than just a bit skeptical since my 1-Irons are all the same length as my Ping pitching wedge - I'm 5'7" tall. I could'nt believe that a #3 iron at pitching wedge length could hit the ball as far as my Ping #3 iron that is about 2.5" longer.
  
  My first 10 shots with the 1-Iron #3 at the range were okay - nothing special. But then I must have got the feel for the club because I tagged the next 40 shots in a row. The yardages aren't exactly marked at the range I go to but I'm guessing that I was hitting the #3 iron 190+ yards and dead straight. I was hitting farther than my Ping #3 iron and did'nt miss hit a single shot - very easy club to hit once you get the feel.

  I received the set of demo woods/irons that I ordered today. Since it was such a "nice" day here, 40 and brezzy, I decided to try them out. Only played nine holes, but never felt so comfortable with new clubs. I went against protocol and didn't warm up. I normally play the front nine here about 6 over par. Today I was 3 over! If I could only putt better. Needless to say I am more than pleased with these clubs and will be filling out the set in short order. Thanks for the great clubs David.

  My sports club every December turns one of their tennis domes into a golf practice facility. The club is just around the corner from my house and I'm planning to go often. I just got my full new set of clubs and irons from i iron golf and hardly had a chance to use them before the courses closed for the winter. I want to work on my swing with these clubs and start playing in the spring as a much improved player.
  My question is this: Hitting the ball into the side of a tennis bubble, maybe 50 feet at the most, does not give you much feedback as to fades, pushes etc. It could feel like solid contact, but in reality I might be pushing every shot. By hitting hundreds of balls I am worried I may be ingraining poor mechanics into my brain. Am I right to be concerned?

  Iron Byron aside - To those of you using the 1-Iron golf clubs, what are your carry yardages for each of your irons?
  
  For a full swing, I carry the following distances. Note - I live at 4200', so the air is a little thinner here. Also, I am 6'3" tall and my clubs at 1/2" longer than standard.
  
  60* LW - 75 yds
  56* SW - 100 yds
  50* GW - 115 yds
  46* PW - 132 yds
  42* 9i - 143 yds
  38* 8i - 155 yds
  34* 7i - 168 yds
  30.5* 6i - 185 yds
  27* 5i - 200 yds
  
  I know that this will be different for everybody and the numbers are not necessarily transferable to me or anybody else. However, I would like to see the yardage spacing that 'Joe Golfer' out there is experiencing with their 1-iron systems.
  
  A second question that I have is in regards to the 1-Iron grips. Why a midsized grip? Is having a midsized grip an integral component of the 1-Iron system? I find a midsized grip uncomfortably large.
  
  Lastly, I am assuming that the clubs are approved by the USGA for competition. Am I assuming correctly? Will future club heads conform to the new USGA groove rules? If so, when will we see a change in the grooves?

  This is another question that's not related to the 1 Iron concept in any meaningful way...it's just about something that's said on the site and in this forum. Is it really a common occurrence for pros to hit over 1000 full shots in a day? It was my understanding that Moe Norman hit the most balls of any pro by a pretty wide margin, and he averaged about 800 balls a day, although he would go over 1000 at times. I also seem to remember a pair of golf announcers talking about Tiger Woods hitting 600 balls a day during one of his swing changes, and they sounded pretty impressed by that number (although they sound pretty impressed by everything Tiger does). Is this accurate?

  I've been reading everything I can find on the single length clubs and I think it may be the perfect solution to my golfing woes. I'm good down to the 8 iron but after that everything just feels too long like I'm reaching for the ball and just slapping it. No solid contact. I can't fix it. I improved my game by adding 3 hybrids called The Perfect Club. They are shorter and easy to hit but I still have this 30 yard gap without my goin to a 6 or 7 iron. They also feel too long for me.
  
  My question is: If my wrist to flooor is 34 1/8, how long would your irons, woods and driver measure? I would like to compare to what I'm using now.
  
  I'm buying the 1 iron clubs with my christmas bonus this year. I'm trying to decide if I should get the 3-pw and keep my Perfect Clubs or 5-pw with the 5&7 woods. I may even throw in the driver if I have enough cash left.

  After two months of reading the 1 Iron Golf website and researching every thread on the subject across the internet, and there are thousands, I finally ordered a set of the used/demonstrator 1 Irons last week. I expected to receive irons with a certain amount of wear but to my surprise they look practically new.
  
  I've been to the range three times with them and, as advertised, they are the easiest to hit irons I've ever played. I hit the #3 iron 200 yards with a high trajectory and soft landing, and I make perfect ball contact 9 out of 10 times. Even the miss-hits are better than my best shots with my old #3 iron. The accuracy is something you have to experience to believe and I'm amazed that I can aim at the pin with my #3 and #4 irons.
  
  I'm confident that my scores will be going way down over the next few months and I wish that I'd have found this website years ago.

  Hope all is well. Having so much fun golfing this past year... I bought a big snake eyes staff bag from Golfsmith and put 13 right-handed and 13 left-handed clubs in the bag (& one putter). Playing the front 9 right-handed and the back 9 left-handed. At Kohler they were very cool and got a big kick out of it....however my playing partners were LIVID when I won 6 of the 9 skins on the front and 5 of the 9 on the back.
  
  I think I might have bought more of your clubs than anyone else (for personal use)... starting with the outburst clubs to the CER irons to all the current clubs right-handed and left-handed. I am now carrying 22 of your irons (3-LW left and right-handed) in the bag!
  
  If you ever make a staff sized golf bag count me in! Thanks again for your current product line I have never had so much fun playing the game.

  I've been playing 1 Irons for three years and my handicap is down to 3. I was disappointed that there wasn't a driving iron or #1 or #2 iron in 1 Iron's line since I favor iron play. David Lake explained to me the diminishing returns aspect of iron loft angles lower than 19º and suggested that I try their #5 fairway wood in place of a driving iron since it was much shorter in club length than a standard fairway wood. The first time I took it to the range I was sold. 220 yards off the tee and straight as an arrow with never a miss-hit. It's also the best wood off the fairway that I've ever hit including hybrids.

  When I initially ordered my set of 1 Irons I only got the 3-iron through PW thinking that I'd use my old SW and LW. My fairway iron play improved immediately with the crisp ball striking that my 1 Irons produced but my short game seemed to decline. After a few rounds like that I finally got it through my thick skull that every time I used one of my old wedges I was introducing a different swing and completely different feel into my iron play. I ordered the 1 Iron GW, SW, and LW and my short game really took off.
  
  Using the same swing with the same ball position and having the same feel, flex, and weight from the 3-iron down through all the wedges is the key to the kind of consistent ball striking that 1 Iron Golf is all about. If anyone is considering ordering these excellent golf clubs then I strongly advise you to get the wedges as well.

  For anyone who hasn't tried the 1-Iron Pow-R Grips, just get 'em. They are awesome! I was really impressed when I played them dry (nice feel and tackiness), but their real strengths became apparent yesterday when I played in monsoon type weather. We were playing with a couple of guys who were in playing a couple of practice rounds before a tournament, and the one guy had top of the line corded grips. He was constantly complaining about how his hand were slipping. Meanwhile, I had no problem at all.
  
  The Shaft Question
  I would like to try changing the shafts on my 1-Irons with graphite shafts (irons, for sure, driver and fairway metals, possibly). Is there anything that makes reshafting, and in particular, reshafting with graphite shafts unsuitable for these heads (I can't imagine what it would be)? What size of a tip would I need, and would it need a parallel or tapered tip?

  Played nine holes at the local executive course at 3 over...yet another personal best. Biggest thing was reigning in my inner speed demon and not getting down on myself. Only bad shot of the day way on the last when I lost a bit of focus on the tee - otherwise nice and straight. More good things to come!

  I find it interesting that so many of the people who post here are so skeptical. With a guarantee such as 1iron offers, you really have nothing to lose. As someone who was skeptical I can say unequivocally the "irons" really do work well. I am noticing a tremendous difference in accuracy. I no longer fear being 170 - 190 yds from the flag because i know the irons will give me not only the distance but more importantly the accuracy. One problem that i do have is explaining my clubs to someone who peeks into my bag and asks; "what kind of clubs are those"...."never heard of them". Anybody that wants to improve their game should try these clubs.
