• Anyone know how to deal with Tennis elbow? -- Eric, 04:20:10 03/22/05 Tue
  I've hit my new 1irons at the dome a couple of times now. Each time I hit them, I can see myself liking them more & more. I'm think I'm starting to fall in love :)
  
  Here's my dilemma.....after years of racquet sports (I played highschool and college tennis plus competitive racquetball) my elbows really feel tender (especially my left elbow). I really aggravated them when my kids were toddlers and I consistently held them.
  
  Anyways, my problem is that with my old graphite irons (much lighter) - my elbows never hurt. I think it was a combination of lighter clubs and I think graphite absorb shock better (not sure on last pt). Now with the steel 1 irons I'm beginning to feel the pain coming back.
  
  But I don't want to give these clubs up - so I'm wondering if any out there have found success with any gadgets or medicine? I'll starting wearing the tennis elbow brace with the little shock absorbing pad. I know that always helps a little.
  
  Any other good ideas out there?

  David: Do you have an excercise or remedy for trigger-finger tendonitis like you do for tennis elbow? The only way I've found to alleviate the inflamation and stiffness was cortisone injections. Before the shots, I could barely bend the affected finger (one in each hand), but the problem seems to be coming back in my right hand.

  Thanks for your posted excerpt from the 1 Iron book! What an incredible explaination of how the body works during the swing. Now, I wanted to ask about "release" ..... how do you explain it, teach it, and help someone find it who blocks shots to the right, w/ an open clubface? How do the arms and hands work during the swing, impact, and during the follow through?

  Just rec'd my new 1iron set (3w,5w,7w,5i thru LW) and thought I'd share my initial first impressions.
  
  As I took the clubs out of the box - I thought what a beautiful set of sticks! Very nice looking and felt very balanced (with my limited living room swings),
  
  I then did an immediate comparison - my 1irons are 37" in length, which is the same length as my old 9 irons. Wow!...no doubt my old clubs were longer than normal (graphite shafts + an extra 1/2 inch). So I have in effect a bag of 9 irons (in my minds eye). I'm asking myself, "will I really be able to hit these as far as my old clubs?". Psychologically, this is going to take a little getting used to....
  
  So the next day I went to the other side of town so I could swing in the dome (still a lot of snow here in upstate, NY). After a slow start, I really started to groove my swing with these clubs - and the ball really seemed to take off. And I have to admit, it was really nice to just have to set up to one stance and one ball position. I was pumped! And I really started hitting the irons well.....(I'll get a truer read on distance when I can get outside, but it felt like I was getting my old distances).
  
  FW woods were nice too. A higher profile face than what I've historically played and for some reason, mentally, I struggled to feel comfortable with a middle of stance ball position for the woods. Will just take some getting used to (both profile and ball position).
  
  So my first impressions were very favorable. Obviously, the next true test will be the golf course. Hopefully this damn snow will melt in the next few weeks.

  Recently got my new 1Iron clubs. This is my first experience with 1Iron clubs and love them. Something I'm not sure about though and that's chipping with 1Irons. Do you chip with 1Irons like you do with conventional clubs (10* open stance with ball placed off back foot) or is chipping done with ball in middle of stance like all other 1Iron shots? Thanks.

• Handicap dropped using 1-iron clubs -- George, 18:22:28 03/12/05 Sat
  I have had my 1-iron clubs for only 23 days and have played 12 rounds of golf with my new clubs. Today my club posted the new handicaps and I dropped from a 27 to a 25. All 12 rounds played with the 1-iron clubs were below my previous handicap of 27. I used to shoot 97 to 105, but now I've played 12 rounds with scores ranging from 90-95. Once I have my new 1-iron clubs charted accurately, I know my scores will even be lower.
  Thanks again, David, for giving me the opportunity to play better golf. Your clubs are the best playable clubs on the golf market.

  Received my new 1Iron clubs the day before yesterday. Since our driving range is closed and I have a big open space in our back yard, I have been hitting "Almost Golf Ball" practice balls the last 2 evenings after work. Sure like what I see so far. Hitting these practice balls much better than I did with my Cobras. Can't wait to try them on the course.
  
  David, was wondering how these are selling. Sure have seen a lot of positive posts on your website and also www.swinglikemoe.com (single axis golf site). I think you are going to sell a ton of these clubs as time goes on and the word gets out.

  One or two companies in the past have come out with single length golf clubs with no success. The most notable were the Tommy Armour EQLs in the early 90's. Being a professional club builder I tinkered with the concept for awhile having clubheads cast for me that were all the same weight and lie angle, and I think I saw somewhere that a component company was currently planning this. The problem is that just like Tommy Armour, I believed that the clubhead alone was the key to the single club length concept. Wrong!!! David Lake and 1 Iron Golf are like the Wright brothers in that they did'nt invent the concepts, they just made them work. Not only is the design of the 1 Iron Golf clubhead perfect for single length play, but David also invented his proprietary shaft optimization process that proved to be the missing link in the equation. This is the true secret of 1 Iron Golf - shaft optimization. My understanding is that David found that standard golf shafts could never work in this concept so he designed his own shafts based upon the required loading properties and shaft deflection, the result was immediate success. Anyway, the bottom line is that these clubs are awesome. Anybody who thinks that they can duplicate the playability of 1 Iron Golf clubs without using David's shaft optimization process is kidding themselves - just ask Tommy Armour.

  Yesterday I was practicing at the range with my new 1-iron clubs, I live in Florida and the weather was great, low 70's, sorry you cold country players can't use your clubs yet. Well, back to my story. I asked a few other players to hit with my clubs. Each time I gave them a club, didn't tell them what club, told them to play it in the middle of their stance and go hit it. Well, after each one hit three different clubs, then I showed them the clubs were the same length and since I didn't tell them what clubs they were hitting they used the same swing and the accuracy/distance were amazing. They asked many questions and I told them all about the clubs and the 1-iron system. They asked to hit a few more clubs and couldn't believe their results. I gave them one of the 1-iron business cards and hope they follow-up and at least visit the website.
  David is there any way I can have some more of the 1-iron business cards?
  Another note of interest for all golfers. Go to the website "tourtempo.com" and check this out. I purchased the book with the CD and it is amazing how you will increase your distance with such a simple idea.

  I have been playing my new 1 Irons for two weeks and am amazed at their performance. I had been using the previous 1 Iron Golf irons for the past two years and dropped about 10 strokes off my game and considered them the best irons made, but the difference between them and the new 1 Iron line is like night and day. The ball just explodes off the face of the new irons and woods. Before switching to 1 Iron Golf a couple of years ago, I had played Ping, Calloway, and Titleist. These big name brands don't begin to compare with the new 1 Iron line of golf clubs. I would encourage anybody interested in a new set of golf clubs to give them a try. Two years ago my handicap was 15 and now it is 5 and steadily going down.

  My new 1iron clubs arrived, and are absolutely beautiful! Stepless shafts, the grips have 1iron golf etched into the base of the grip. I can use this grip as an alignment aid for setting my hands now too. The woods have 1iron golf across the face which also will work as an alignment aid. I think David Lake might be the smartest guy/club builder/designer in the golf industry! The iron heads are really striking with the 1iron logo on the back of the heads. I havent been able to hit them outdoors yet, but I am really pleased with the quality and workmanship and design of these clubs. thanks david for such a great product. ed norman

  For those of you who are trying out a set of 1 Iron Golf clubs - take your time! It took me three weeks and eight trips to the range before these clubs started to really click for me. David had e-mailed me saying that it would take some time for me to ingrain a single swing and not try to hit the different irons the way I used to hit my old set. He was 100% right. I now hit these irons like they were an extension of my arm, never miss-hitting a shot and distances that I never had before. The accuracy is fantastic and I plan to lower my scores quite a bit over the next few months.

  hi david, Im kind of upset, you told me a while back ago that as I kept using your 1iron system, my swing and ball striking would get progressively better. Well you were right, my handicap at end of our summer league was 16.7, now if I am not shooting in high 70's or low 80's I am not having a good round :) I shot my worst round recently, a 45 for 9 holes. I had just figured out one more thing about my iron swing. I kept hitting my shots one club long, and left of flag (which is always where I aim) I have gained a club length since switching to your system, and now I aim right at target, I no longer hit weak slices. Trusting my new aim point seems to be the hardest, but my ball flight and accuracy are really stunning now. I played 5 holes the other day before dark and was 1 under par, today I shot a 38 with 2 lipout putts. I was kind of upset with my 45 round, because I just couldnt aim at pin that day, but no more, I absolutely cannot believe how much more fun golf is now,,,,you have a wonderful product,,,,,,,,thanks ed norman

  Maybe I'm just slow to understand, but I've been using the 1 Iron Golf clubs for the past two years and my scores have gone down by an average of 20 strokes. They are the best golf clubs that I have ever hit in my life. Because of my improvement a number of my golfing buddies are also playing 1 Iron Golf clubs and seeing big improvements in their games. I even met a guy at a business lunch the other day who plays these clubs and he was just as thrilled as me. So I don't understand - why dose'nt every golfer switch to 1 Iron Golf clubs? Every time I read posts on the different golf forums where someone claims that distances will be off, etc. I just laugh. I guess that you simply have to play these clubs in order to believe the truth.

  My goal is be successful on the Champions tour. I have played golf for 35 years, started in high school and played in mens clubs on and off, while I raised a family. For the past 2 years, I have been playing/practicing 5/6 days a week. I got myself to a 1 handicap, but could not get any better. I went to a PGA professional earlier this year. We decided to rebuild my swing, but not performing any better. I used to build clubs and did it for about 10 years. I thought that the idea of a same length club was a solid concept. I built several sets, but never could get it right. I found several copywrites on the concept. Is there any Pro's using this concept or your clubs? I believe in the concept and will order a set of irons soon. I am still working with a PGA Professional. I have not approched him with the concept. Any advice that you can give me in working with a PGA Professional would help. Thanks

  hi david, my buddies and I have been golfing a lot these last 2 weeks, weather is terrible up in northern michigan. We usually get out for 9 holes only during the week. Most of my scores have been 38 to 40, my handicap is 16.7 for 18 holes. Not sure why they have dropped so much, my drives have been in play a lot, my iron play is really coming around, I just changed my spine angle a little, and hitting your 1 iron clubs are improving dramatically. It is nice to be hitting the golf ball so well, it will be even nicer this winter when I am sitting here with 4' of snow, knowing that my golf game has improved so much.   Golf season is about over for the winter in the midwest, but I decided I had to try 1 Iron Golf clubs anyway - could'nt wait until next spring. I'll tell you folks right now that seeing is believing. I followed the playability tips that I received with my order to the letter and I have never hit better golf shots in my life.   I have thought about buying these clubs for 2 years. I've struggled with my swing and never broken 100. I had a slow swing speed (80) and with a driver could only get 175 yards. I've experimented with different clubs, different shafts, all with poor results. When I ordered David's clubs my swing had disappeared. When I got them I could hit the irons but not the woods. After doing the recommended drills I was able to hit all the clubs and started to pick up distance. 5 weeks later my high score was a 96 and my average is 94.I won closest to the pin on a 192 yard par 3 in a scramble. I hit it perfectly straight and was 6 feet from the pin. I used my 5 wood, before I couldn't hit my driver that far.Everything David says on the website is true.It goes against conventional golf fitting but the system does work. Thanks David. You'll be getting orders from my friends. They can't belive the diffence in my game.

  I am one of those golfers who switch clubs every few years or so. In the past I have owned every major brand of golf club made. The only thing in common between these sets of clubs is the fact that my game never improved. This summer I purchased a complete set of 1 Iron Golf clubs and my world changed. I have dropped ten strokes off my handicap and am continuing to improve. 1 Iron Golf clubs are by far the most playable clubs that I have ever owned. Distance and accuracy are stunning with every club in the bag. I have never been a good long iron player, in fact I very rarely hit a shot with anything over a 5 iron. With the 1 Iron Golf clubs I hit the 3 iron with just as much confidence as a wedge. Believe me when I say that this is the real McCoy.

  My game has not progressed since selling my original 1-irons, I had 3 rounds in the 90's 2 yrs ago, and haven't been out of double bogey since, even though my instructor says that I should be playing in the 80's. My game does not translate from driving range to golf course. I thinking about getting a set of woods:3,5,7,9,& 11 along with the Ti driver. I plan to keep my 1-iron wedges and my 7,8,9, Wedgewoods, they are great for getting out of the rough. Now, what is the set up for the woods??? Center stance??? My difficulty is playing these mountain coursed, what is the set up below and above your feet, also on a down slope and on an up slope, and finally what is the suggested position of the driver at address.
  I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE ONE POSITION SET UP!!!

  Received my new 1 Iron Golf clubs on Wednesday and have been to the range twice and played twice. I want to thank you for bringing my game to a new level. In the two rounds that I played I beat my previous best score by 10 shots and 12 shots. The ball justs zings off of the clubface with every iron and wood and goes straight at the target. I have never been able to hit the ball like this, especially with the long irons. I gave my old set of $1,500 Calloways to my brother who will probably give them to someone else and buy your clubs. Thank you again.

  Just wanted to publicly thank David Lake and his 1 Iron Golf company.
  
  I've been playing with his clubs for more than a year and decided to add a 5 iron to my set. When the 5 iron arrived, it was snapped in half like a twig--I can only imagine the FedEx Ground carnage that caused this. Long story short, when I notified FedEx of the event and arranged for the pick up of the damaged item, I simultaneously notified 1 Iron Golf. David Lake immediately responded and arranged to build another club (the shipments are insured) and it arrived within a few days. Super service and I am impressed.
  
  A separate note on the clubs, which I am obviously happy with. I notice from time to time concerns about loss of distance. I'll add my voice to other experienced 1 Iron Golfers' that this should not be a concern. Some people experience equivalent or longer distance right away. Others, like me, take a little more time to adjust to the system. I'm longer now than I used to be, without a doubt.

  Well, when I first tried my 1 iron clubs, I put the ball off my left heel with my fairway woods......but, I MADE myself do exactly what David suggested....I play the ball IN THE MIDDLE(except the driver)....and just nick the ground with the club during my swing.....the ball just gets in the way.....this way, every swing is the same with all of my irons and fairway woods.......This really works...I promise.....this makes you "pinch" the ball off the turf.....it may take a few trips to the range...also, don't swing so hard....you can swing fast without swinging hard...

  Just got my clubs.....hitting all of them great!! Definitely NO loss of distance.....just as confident with my 3 wood off the deck as my 7 wood...........hitting my long irons LONG and with a little draw......the ball is in the middle of my stance with ALL of the irons.......with ALL of my fairway woods AND my driver it is off my left heel(I tried the ball in the center, but I push all of my shots)...the customer service is great.....David is a real professional!!! I know there is suppose to be a "getting used to" period, but JUST ONE trip to the range was all I needed......these clubs feel great, and they perform just as advertised...........THANKS!!!!!

  My 1 iron golf clubs are working out great for me. I got them last fall and I experienced an immediate subtle improvement in my ball striking. Eight months into it, I have experienced further improvement and have gained confidence in the clubs to the point that I can take much more full and committed swings with full release and am getting far superior distance to when I first got the clubs and vs. my old Ping O size. I have never been a long hitter but I am starting to hit my six iron over 155 yards and my driver around 225-260 depending on the roll. I hit most of my shots with a fade so I could probably get more distance by trying to work the ball more to the left but why bother if the fade is more consistent for me? The one iron driver has become amazingly consistent for me and I probably only miss-hit about 1 in 20 drives. A bad shot for me now is being 220 yards out and in the right rough. I honestly cannot remember the last time I drove a ball out of bounds or into the trees. I don't understand why manufacturers make 45" drivers at all and I predict in 3-4 years the fashion among major manufacturers will be to shorten up the lenth of the driver shafts by 2-3 inches.
  
  Yesterday, I played the executive course http://www.golfincline.com/mountain/default.htm up here which is a very nice, mountainous par 58 3,500 yard with probably half the par threes longer than 150 yards including one that was playing 211 yards and a couple around 180 yards or so. There is also one 400 yard par four and the majority of the holes have dramatic elevation changes, bunkering, gullies and creeks. Numerous trees and fairways are tight. My score yesterday was a 68, a new personal best for this particular track. I was putting well sinking most putts from 5'-0 and in but I did not have any long putts made. I had no score worse than bogey and had eight pars no birdies.
  
  For reference I have the CER 1IronGolf 3-PW, SW, LW (forged blade version), 1IronGolf 1 (360CC), 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods. My only non 1 iron golf club I use is my Oddeysey 2 ball white hot 33" putter. On this particular course, I leave the 3 wood and 3 irons out of the bag. I use a Callaway HX Blue which is a soft "feel" ball as opposed to a distance ball.

  I scored a new personal best on the Incline Mountain Course (Par 58 Executive Course). I shot a 66 or 8 over par yesterday with no mulligans or "do-overs" and no improvement of lies (god forbid).
  
  I crushed my regular playing opponent by at least 6 strokes. I say "at least" because he was taking several mulligans and other creative scoring techniques that I could not track his actual score.
  
  The high light of the round was missing a hole in one on the short par 3 15th hole by ONE INCH! My back nine was outstanding and I was only two over par for 10 through 18.
  
  On the front nine I was only three over going into number 8 but had a triple bogie on this difficult 200 yard plus par three. I duffed a five wood off the tee and was just short of the left bunker green side bunker and in the rough. I duffed my lob wedge to the very difficult pin placement behind the bunker and left my second in the bunker. On in three and then three putts. Oh well.
  
  Aside from that my putting was amazing and I had several one putt greens. Ball striking was good but I can do better and am determined to continue to improve.

  David, just a note to say it's not just the weekly (or more frequent) golfers who stand to benefit a lot from your clubs. I have owned my since last year. As a busy practicing physician with a teen and preteen sons, involved in church and community activities, I have a hard time finding time to play more than once a month. Nevertheless, last year when I bought your clubs I had been shooting in the mid 90's for about five years. This year every round I've played has been in the mid 80's. I've taken no lessons, changed very little about my swing and still only play about once a month during the nice time of year here in Northern California. Last week I took my 11 year old to the range and astonished myself with the consistent accuracy of club after club. Being consistently able to shoot accurately while playing so infrequently is certainly a byproduct of needing to use only one iron swing, not nine different swings, and a far most consistent response from the woods (my 3 wood is my GO-TO most consistent club). So I recommend your clubs ESPECIALLY for those who'd like to shoot their best but can only play once in a while. Thanks a lot for the great product!

  I' a professional club builder and have been in business for over 25 years. When I first learned of the 1 Iron Golf System I was intrigued because it went against everything that I had ever learned in club building. I tried to duplicate your system in my shop and spent many hours doing so with poor results so I ordered one of your sets of irons to test. I have to admit that they performed better than any irons that I have ever played and I have finally learned the true secret that makes your system perform so well, and that is the shafting process that you use. I have tried to match your shafting process but have'nt had any success since your shafts are manufactured specifically to your specifications and are not available to anyone else. They are unlike any other shaft that I have tested over the years as far as loading and deflection, and this coupled with your unique spine orientation process produces an almost perfect golf shaft. I am also impressed with your shaft/clubhead matching process that basically marries the playing characteristics of the clubhead with the playing characteristics of the shaft for a perfect match, and I know that no other golf company has ever done this. Your total system is not one of just same length irons which has been tried in the past, but is obviously the result of many years of hard work determining all of the playability factors of a golf club and incorporating them all into one design.   I have never been able to hit a 3 iron in my life. In fact the longest iron I have ever been able to hit consistently was my 5 iron. Two months ago I ordered a full set of 1 Iron Golf irons and from the first time I took them to the range I have been hitting the 3 and 4 irons like I was born with them. It is a great feeling to be able to hit a 3 iron 190 yards and land it on the green time after time. But all of the irons are like that - extremely accurate and consistent shot after shot.

I am really scoring well especially on par 3's, when I set up to the ball now, I have complete confidence that I will be hitting the ball straight. We played in a tournament last weekend, and I got my first closest to pin on a par 3. We used many more of my 2nd shots in the scramble than ever before.   David, I want to thank you for the 1irongolf clubs I purchased last July. They have improved my game and made golf more enjoyable for me. My index has dropped from 24 to 18 and it is trending lower. I am consistently driving the ball in the fairway, but I am not hitting the greens with my irons. I am generally in the neighborhood, but not on the green. The course I regularly play has rough around the greens and I have trouble pitching the ball onto the green. I would appreciate any tips you have regarding the short game (from 100 yards in).
  
  I have one additional question regarding the driver. I allowed one of the other clubs to rub against and scratch the top of the driver while it was in the trunk of my car. It happened through the cover and it is not a deep mark. Do you have any suggestions re removing the scratch? It does not affect the play, but I hate to see such a great looking driver with a scratch on the top.

  I love my 1-iron golf clubs....but here's what I hate about them. With traditional clubs I was always struggling just to get my shots into the air, much less hit a green from any further then 125 yards or so out. Now I'm unhappy if I miss from 190. I used to carry 14 clubs in my bag, but couldn't hit more then 7 or 8 decently. I purchased David's driver, 3-5-7-9-11 woods and 2 thru lw, and can hit them all as well as my 7 iron and 7 wood. I'm more consistent, accurate, and longer. That means I now have 17 clubs, and constantly have to struggle to decide which ones NOT to carry. Now that I have found the finest golf theory on the planet, I actually have to blame myself when I make a mistake, usually mental. And now the greatest of all indignities....I have lost my driver and lob wedge. My father in law tried out my driver several weeks ago, then borrowed it for a business outing. He hit every single fairway....and he has now taken my driver hostage, and refused to return it. This past weekend my brother (brother in law, actually) had forgotten his lob wedge, and borrowed mine three times during our round. He chipped in on # 6, then actually holed out from 60 yds on # 15! I've been informed that I will never see it again!!
  
  Ok, now it's true that my brother is going to order a full set from Mr. Lake, my father-in-law has already done so, and it's true that my problems are good problems to have, but really.....I'm losing clubs here!
  
  So, maybe I better quit bragging on David's incredible advancement in club technology??? Naw, true genius MUST be recognized!

  I read all of the reviews and comments about 1 Iron Golf clubs in this forum and on many others and could'nt believe that these golf clubs could ever perform like all of the people said they did. I was wrong!!!! I've only played three rounds with the new 1 Iron Golf clubs that I ordered and my scores have already gone from the low 90's to the low 80's. These clubs are amazing and I wish I had bought them years ago. I have'nt carried long irons for years because I could'nt hit them at all, but I can hit my new 3, 4, and 5 irons just as easily as my wedges. I hit my 3 iron on a 190 yard par three yesterday and landed the ball 2 feet from the pin for a birdie. For those who are "doubting Thomas's" like I was I can only say that these clubs work just as advertised and just like the golfers in all the forums say they do. Thank you Mr. Lake.

• Club Length vs Swing Speed -- David Lake, 08:00:20 04/22/04 Thu
  A common misconception is that club length alone is the determinant of the radius of a golf swing. Regardless of how many hinging points and resultant secondary arcs/planes are involved, the true center of a golf swing is a point somewhere between the golfer's shoulders (this center point moves laterally between the shoulders during the swing). Hence, you must include the golfer's arm length into the radial arm length equation for any meaningful analysis. Therefore, assuming a 37” iron length and an arm length of 35”, the radial arm in the golf swing is 72”. This means that a ½” increase in club length, which is the standard length increment between successive irons, results in a radial arm length increase of 1/144 or 0.0694%. A 2” increase in club length results in a radial arm length increase of 2.77%. Since swing speed is determined primarily by the strength of the golfer and not the length of the club, you cannot just take a current swing speed and multiply it by the 2.77% for a 2" club length increase to determine any possible swing speed increase. Realistically, this percentage would be around 0.1% to 0.2%. As you can see, a 2” increase in club length results in an insignificant and barely measureable increase in swing speed.
  
  In defining what a "significant" increase in swing speed means, and determining the resultant effectiveness of this increase, other factors need to be considered:
  1) If the average golfer swings a #5 iron five times he will record five different swing speeds varying +/- 5mph.
  2) Each incremental increase in club length results in lessened average center-face contact, which results in decreased distance.
  
  Consequently, any increases in swing speed have to be analyzed in relation to decreases in solid ball contact for each incremental club length increase in order to produce effective data. Even then, as per above, the average golfer cannot produce a constant swing speed with any club. Our testing has shown that although a 2" increase in club length can minutely increase swing speed, it dramatically reduces the percentage of center face hits. It has been shown that clubface impact just 1/4" off center-face can reduce distance by up to 10 yards.

  Just got back from the Dominican Republic where I was able to use my brand new CER clubs through 36 holes.
  1st let me just say that I am just a hacker. I don't get out as much as I would like to and was also not able to swing these clubs even once before actually getting them out on the 1st tee. I won't bore you with my scores but will add the following...
  It is definately true that the 1 size in shaft length will not hurt your distance and may indeed lengthen it.
  I was getting 200+ yards with my 3 iron, 170+ with my 5 iron, and 150-160 with my 7 iron. These are not long but actually match or better my standard clubs. Thats only after 2 rounds of getting used to the set so I am positive that I will hit longer after more use.
  I did struggle with my long irons and sculled quite a few shots but this is something that I expected as my body/mind get accustomed to the shorter length. When I did hit it solid though, Oh what a feeling!!! A solid feel without any harsh vibration. You just knew your shot was going high and long.
  For anyone still hesitating about the purchase... Don't!!
  The irons are aesthetically pleasing, very well made, and deliver on their claim of being easy to hit. I see no negatives with these irons through 36 holes.
  Thank you David for making this game that much more enjoyable for me. My confidence is already building and I am already attacking the pin instead of just trying to make it on. ~Alex Ramos~

Only missed 1 full iron shot ( tried to get too cute and hit a high fade on a par 3 and hit it in the hosel ) .I hit a 4 iron shot from 210 over a lake , over the trap, came up 3 yds. short of making it. Still 3 out 4 par 3's I made birdie. none over 12 ft.I'm as happy as a pig in mud.I still need to figure out how to keep from going long from 100 yds. in with the SW. I hope the Lob wedge will solve this problem when it gets here. John

I was hitting them GREAT. 4 - iron is going 185-190 yards and SW 100 yds.with just a easy, effortless swing using the NG swing. I am a 55 yr old ,14 handicap , who use to play callaway x-12 stiff graphite. NOT ANY MORE. Now I will have to beg the wife for the money to get the woods.

  We have received numerous e-mails asking what the differences are between the 1 Iron Golf System and the old Tommy Armour EQLs. Actually, the only thing in common is the use of a single length throughout a set of irons. Whereas Tommy Armour just used an existing line of clubheads and simply shafted to a constant length, we designed our entire system specifically for single length play. Actually, the use of a single length evolved through our testing of playability features. Our goal in the beginning was to produce the most playable set of golf clubs in the industry. This included specific playability design features of the clubhead as well as shaft optimization. As well, our testing involved varying lengths of golf clubs and their associated lie angles in order to find combinations that produced enhanced playability across the board. What our testing showed conclusively was that an overlooked playability feature of tremendous value was the use of a single length throughout a set of golf clubs. This single length however, had to be based on what our testing proved to be the ideal lie angle of the clubhead that put the golfer into the ideal swing posture for optimal power and accuracy. Unlike Tommy Armour and other companies, although this ideal lie angle is constant for all golfers, the corresponding club length has to be tailored to the individual. That is why we developed our formulas to translate the ideal butt-end of club to ground distance at impact to the golfer's wrist-to-floor measurement. The result of ten years of experimentation and testing was the incorporation of all of these playability features into a system that produces, in our opinion, the most playable clubs in golf. Bear in mind, that based on the individual's wrist-to-floor measurement our irons could be the length of a standard #6, #7, or #8 iron.

  My new 1-Irons (3 - PW) arrived last week. The first trip to the range I could not hit the 3-5 irons very well. The second trip I hit them better but still less distance than I am used to. By the third trip to the range I was hitting them like a professional and had people standing there watching me nail shot after shot. You are right about a breaking in period where you have to unconsciously relearn your swing to accomodate irons that fit you after playing with off-the-rack clubs for so many years. My new distance and accuracy are stunning and the one length has improved my ball striking by 100%.

  David, I wanted you to know how happy I am with my new clubs. I played 2 weekends ago in miserable weather, I was alone, which means I usually play much better. I shot a 39 and a 33 on a course slightly harder than my home course is. I thought the score was just a fluke, so I didnt post it. Yesterday, I played with my league partner, and another good friend, and we really play tough against one another. I shot a 39 on first 9 holes, then I was 2 over par on last 6 holes, before we had to quit because it was getting dark. The courses arent in the best condition yet, so we lift and clean and place our balls if they get stuck in wet ground. I never really hit a bad iron shot, no fat shots, or skulls, and I believe this was because of the irons all being the same length. Last year as an experiment, I had taken my old graphite set of irons, and cut down the 3 and 4 iron to 5 iron length, and had hit them very well, so in theory I knew your system would work. I bought your irons in december knowing your 30 day guarantee wouldnt do me any good, as I live in northern michigan. My "instincts" were right, I really believe I will cut my handicap in half using these clubs. I have played 2 full years now, and my handicap in league first year was 22, last year ended up being 18. I cannot THANK you enough for these clubs, and all your help,,,,thanks ed norman

  I thought I might share something my father taught me years ago. It has to to with distance and "potential" distance. He told me that if you're swinging well and with good rhythm your driver should go about twice your 9 iron distance. He always said that trying for more was only going to get you into trouble. Of course I guess that would assume a level lie and no wind, etc to interfere.
  Today, when I'm swinging well, I hit my 1-Iron Golf 7 iron about 150, my 9 iron 130, and my driver goes about 250. So, I guess ol' Dad was right........of course, he usually was, come to think of it.
  
  What are everyone else's thoughts on distance, or how to know when "enough's enough" ???

  I've read lots of posts lately on the different golf forums where the poster is asking questions about the 1 Iron Golf system. There is always somebody that replies saying that you will lose distance with the 3 and 4 irons and gain distance with the 9 iron and wedges. I'm here to tell you that this is 100% not true. With my old irons I had a ten yard gap between clubs from the 3 iron down through the pitching wedge. My 3 iron was 190 yards and my pitching wedge was 120 yards. With my 1 Iron Golf clubs I still have a ten yard gap between clubs but my 3 iron is now 195 yards, 4 iron 185 yards, 5 iron 175 yards, on down to my pitching wedge at 125 yards. I increased my distance with all my irons and more importantly I never, never mis-hit a shot anymore. Read David Lake's -Distance- web site page for the facts.

  For anybody thinking about purchasing 1 Iron Golf clubs or those who have recently purchased them I have a very important announcement: Stick with it!!!
  When I got my set of 1 Iron Golf clubs last year I immediately took them to the range for a try-out. I could hit the 6 iron through the pitching wedge O-K but nothing spectacular. I could not hit the 5, 4, and 3 iron at all, and the fairway woods were a disaster. I e-mailed David Lake and told him what had happened and I was almost floored when he e-mailed me back saying that what I experienced was normal. After my initial shock I read the rest of his e-mail and it was the best thing I ever did for my golf game. David explained that I had built multiple swings and swing planes into muscle memory, that were necessary using standard golf clubs, over a twenty year period and that it would be very unrealistic to go to the range just one time and change all that. He explained very clearly how the mind and body work together when learning a body movement and how hard it is to unlearn. For instance, he told me that if I tried to hit my new 3 iron I would unconsciously try to hit it using my old 3 iron swing and ball position, that my mind would rebel against using a center of stance ball position and a 7 iron swing, and he was right. He layed out a practice schedule for me that consisted of four successive daily trips to the range and hitting only one bucket of a maximum 80 balls per trip. He emphasized following the "playability tips" that were included with my golf clubs verbatim, and most importantly, he suggested that someone hand me the various irons to hit without letting me know which ones they were. The idea was that if my mind knew that I was hitting a 3 iron my body would revert to my old 3 iron swing. He also stressed not to even touch my old set of clubs during this period because they would only confuse the issue.
  The first trip to the range per David's schedule and instruction I hit all of the irons fairly well and got a few good hits with the woods. On the second trip I made a big improvement in ball striking with all of the clubs. On the third trip I did not have a single mis-hit with any of the clubs and my distance started to increase dramatically. On the fourth trip my new swing felt very comfortable and natural and I could really feel extra power developing in my swing. I hit 80 balls that day and I smoked every last one of them straight as an arrow.
  This was a year ago and I still improve with every round of golf. Since I only need one swing now it is firmly planted in my muscle memory and I can concentrate on scoring.

  Every golf professional and club designer in the world has a ragged edged copy of Alistair Cochran and John Stobb's book "Search for the Perfect Swing". This book is considered the Bible of scientific golf research. The authors conducted hundreds of different tests ranging from the affects of clubface grooves on ball flight to the cause of a slice and hook. Their conclusion after testing and researching every aspect of golf club performance was that the perfect set of irons would be one where all the irons are the same length.   For anyone new to this site, I am a 9 handicap who stumbled onto this site in December, and like others thought this system was the correct way to play this game. I actually cut down my Driver and fairway woods last year(42.75" Driver) and hit them as long or longer with better control, about 275 carry with Driver; Nike 275cc model 9.5 graphite stiff. I ordered the clubs one week before Christmas and received them first week of Jan. I took off a month because of bad knee, have had three knee operations and three back operations(fused spine) and can never really play 2 days in a row because of back. I told David that already I have played back to back days three times since I recieved clubs with no back pain or discomfort. After the first three rounds with a bad knee have hit these irons better than any I've ever owned( 25 or 30 sets, some custom built). I am an equipment junkie but no longer, I will never go back to conventional clubs. Last three rounds have been 81,83,83 shot 39 on front each round with bad chipping and putting. Back nine was horrendous because of right knee not being able to hold up for 18 holes. Chipping will take some practice with longer wedges but nothing serious. And, as for David Lake; he's a breath of fresh air in a world of hype. He answers e-mails promptly and when a friend of mine, who does not have a computer, had some questions David talked to him on the phone. He has since ordered his set. This system is for real, if you want to play better golf, with less wear and tear on your body, use this system, get these clubs you will not be disappointed!!!

  I have been asked many times what golf instruction is the best and which instructors would I refer. The fact is that I have always believed that the best instructor is yourself. When I first started playing golf I was like most beginners in that I read every golf book and instructional article available. The more I read the more I found that every article contradicted the other, which caused me nothing but confusion. I was fortunate in that I had a high-school athletic field right across the street from my house which allowed me unlimited practice. I would go over there every evening with five balls and a pitching wedge and hit down the field and then back. What I discovered was that when given a certain task your own body would unconsciously learn how to perform it in the most efficient manner. However, this could only be accomplished through performing the required movement over and over. By knowing what it was I wanted to do through my reading (i.e.: hitting down on the ball, etc.), my body unconsciously learned to perform the task through repetition and my ball striking improved very rapidly. The key is repetition, or in other words, daily practice.
  
  I best tip that I can give is to learn the swing first. It is impossible for a golfer to learn to swing the club correctly if he is trying to hit a golf ball. The ball becomes the object of the exercise and the desire is to hit the ball rather than to perform a good swing letting the ball just get in the way. I suggest to both beginning and advanced golfers to spend a week going out every day in the back yard and just swinging a golf club. Mark a spot on the ground in the center of your stance and swing the club trying to just nick the turf at this spot. Concentrate on just swinging the club and developing power and fluidity in the swing. Feel your body loading power in the backswing and then unleashing it with a solid wrist snap during the downswing. After doing this for a half hour or so per day for a week you will find that you have developed a very powerful and controlled swing. Do not be tempted to go to the range and hit golf balls during this week, but be satisfied in just developing the swing. After the week is up go to the range and hit a bucket of balls placing the ball on your imaginary spot and, again, trying to nick the ground at this spot letting the ball just get in the way. No longer do you have to think about your swing because after the past week of practice it is fully ingrained in your muscle memory.

  Maybe this will save someone some money. I originally bought a set of 1 Iron clubs and then thought that it would be a cash saving idea to buy the ERC component heads elsewhere and place them on graphite shafts that were cut to my 1Iron specs with oversized grips. The performance was not there. I am now very pleased with the purchase my 1 Iron fairway woods and 1 Iron driver. I am a high handicapper and can use all the help I can get. My game is now rapidly improving. The irons, driver and woods are the best golf investment I ever made! Thank you David.

  hi david, this time I drove 2 hours to mid michigan, and hit off a mat with a heater overhead. This is the first time I could actually watch ball flight. I am amazed at how accurately I can hit a fairway wood now. I found a swing speed (about 80%) and I could hit a draw or a fade, this is the first time I have ever been able to do this with a fairway wood, and I did this with all 3 woods!! Today I went to my brothers in northern lower michigan, and was able to hit off some grass, still had amazing results with accuracy with all clubs, especially fairway woods.   Received my new set of 1 Iron Golf clubs last week. They are beautiful and hit like a dream. The long irons are easier to hit than my old mid irons and are straight at the target everytime, also I have gained about 4 yards per club. I can kill the driver and still find myself in the fairway. I expect my handicap to drop significantly over the next month or two. When my friends watch me hit balls their jaws drop and I am loving it.

  Hi David, I got my new 1iron clubs today, I jumped right in the truck, and drove an hour to an indoor driving range. I cannot possibly tell you how HAPPY I am. The clubs are beautiful, well packaged, well made. I hit a small bucket into the nets, then when the simulator opened up, I hit another half hour. All my balls with any club were dead down the right center of fairway. I tried to hit some draws then some fades, and they worked great. Only thing I was disappointed was the distance,,,,,then I took another look at the simulator, and I was reading the carry distance only, not the total distance:) My swing speed has increased, because of the ball position being placed in center of stance, I feel like I can really take a swing at the ball without losing any rythm. I never had a shot where theshafts twanged, or vibrated in any way either, the shafts had a very solid feel while hitting them. I had a couple of young guys come over, and admired the new clubs, (some still in their packaging. Then they noticed my group on the fairway simulator, and were really impressed.   I have received many E-mails concerning the frequency of replacing grips on golf clubs. I know that Ken Venturi states that "if you play once a week, then change grips once a year", in the Golf Pride commercials. My experience has been that if the grips are cleaned regularly they will last for quite a few years. In fact, I have used the same grips for up to six years with little loss of tackiness or softness. The key is proper cleaning to remove built-up sweat and grease from the grip. To clean the grips properly, insert a tee in the hole at the butt-end of the grip to keep water from entering the shaft. Scrub the grip with a stiff brush using liquid dishwashing soap and water. Rinse the grip thoroughly. While scrubbing the grip be sure to have the butt-end of the club pointing down. This, along with the tee, ensures that water stays out of the shaft. I usually clean my grips along with the clubheads after every second round of golf. If you go to the range frequently, you might want to increase the regularity of your grip cleaning.

  Played golf at Eagle Valley East in Carson City on Saturday and scored a new personal best. True, this is a somewhat easy course at a bit over 6,300 yards but the wind was howling a steady 20-25 MPH (we do have good weather here but just not lately)and I was walking and carrying my bag which I am not used to.
  
  So I shot a 12 over par 84 which is my best round in memory without using mulligans or gimmes.
  
  It was also the first round with the 42" 1iron driver. The driver performed great with many drives over 230 yards despite the wind. Even my worst misses on drives were long blocks to the right that were still quite playable. Had at least three faultless 5 woods from the fairway of 190 yards plus and even a crisp 3 iron from about 185 out to the front of the green. I even got cocky on one 420 yard par four and pulled out my 3 wood on a downhill lie. My drive had been knocked down by the wind and despite the de-lofted lie I was able to smack a 210 yard low borer onto the front apron of the green.
  
  I only had two miss-hits: One a 7 iron approach from 150 yards out that I shanked to the left into a green side bunker, the other a duff of three wood to a 205 yard par three. Even my duff of the 3 wood sailed about 180 yards and I was able to get up and down for par when I smacked a log wedge to four feet and sank the putt. I putted pretty well and had one 25 footer par save.
  
  My spirits were somewhat dampened when I came off the course to discover that some punk had lifted my sub-woofer from my vehicle. The bastard left all of the other stereo equipment plus left a $600 Bally brief case that was sitting right next to the sub woofer. At least I can thank the thief for that small consideration.
  
  But I still feel great two days after this round. If I focus on improving my putting and game inside 100 yards, I feel that I actually have a chance to post a sub eighty round on the easier courses. An unthinkable thought for me just a month ago. I love these clubs.
  
  My question is: Is it ethical not to tell your playing partners about 1 iron golf? I guess I should not be a pig. Maybe I will tell them in a month or two.

  david, my brother and I are currently using a wide stance, his is 26" wide for driver, mine is about 22". When we spread our legs, our wrist to floor measurement would be lower than if we measured it just standing up. Do you need to take this into consideration when building a set of clubs? Standing straight my wrist to floor measurement is 34.25 for left hand, and 34 for right. When I stand like I am going to hit, it lowers even more. thanks ed norman

  We have all been told to hit down on the ball, but what does this mean? By taking a number of swings using an iron without a golf ball and just trying to nick the turf, we are able to determine the lowest point of our swing. That is the center point of the scar we leave on the ground, and we will call that our swing center. This point generally occurs just left of center in a shoulder width stance. By placing the golf ball slightly behind this point, or in the center of the stance, we would effectively hit the ball before the ground leaving a small divot that starts in our swing center just past the ball. This is in effect hitting down on the ball. This does not mean attacking the ball with a steep swing plane and leaving a crater. This simply means that you are hitting the ball before the clubhead nicks the turf. Once this swing center and relative ball position have been determined it should be used consistently with all of the irons and fairway woods. Golf instructional books advocate placing the ball towards the front of the stance for long-irons and towards the rear of the stance for the short-irons. Bear in mind that in 1 Iron Golf different ball positions are unnecessary. The advantages of hitting down on the ball rather than trying to pick it clean or scooping it are numerous:
  * Imparts more backspin to the ball which aids in accuracy.
  * Increases distance since the angle of attack ensures that you are pinching rather than scooping the ball.
  * Allows you to consistently hit the ball from any kind of turf condition or lie.
  
  Remember to stay behind the ball at impact. (See the post entitled "Hitting the Long Irons")

  The main problems I have found with golfers struggling with the low-lofted irons are:
  
  1) Not staying behind the ball at impact.
  2) Using a forward press with the hands prior to beginning the back-swing.
  
  In both cases, the culprit is de-lofting of the clubface at impact. To give you an example, a #3 iron only has a 19* or 20* loft angle. When the golfer de-lofts the clubface the result is an effective loft angle at impact of 16* or 17*. This basically turns the #3 iron into a #1 or #2 iron which is extremely difficult for the average golfer to get airborne. This is true not only with the long irons, but with the rest of the irons as well.
  
  Make sure that your torso stays behind the ball throughout the swing and especially at impact. The common lateral slide to the left on the downswing, which is actually a very natural movement, moves the torso in front of the ball de-lofting the clubface and making the longer irons very difficult to get airborne. A good practice is to make sure that you are looking at the back of the ball at impact as this ensures that the torso is not in front of the ball. The old adage of "swinging in a barrel" is very true - you want to eliminate any lateral movement of the body during the swing.
  
  Although it is promulgated in virtually every golf instructional book and article, it is wrong to use a forward press with the hands to start the backswing. Using a forward press or positioning the hands in front of the ball at address translates into a de-lofted clubface at impact. Also, forget trying to form a straight line between your left arm and the shaft of the golf club at address as this effectively positions the hands in front of the ball again de-lofting the clubface. What you want at address is the shaft pointing straight down from your belly-button to the back of the golf ball (assuming a ball position in the center of your stance).
  
  I would do this: digest what I have said above and go to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls - however, only take your #3 iron to the range with you. Start out by just lazing through the ball hitting half shots and concentrating on staying behind the ball, using the address set-up noted above. As you become more comfortable with the set-up, start hitting full shots. I promise that you will see results halfway through the bucket. This will provide you with an additional plus in that the more proficient you become with the low-lofted irons, the better you be able to hit the rest of your irons.

  I was introduced into golf via the driving range not quite four months ago. I was handed a bag of used clubs, given a few instructions on how to hold a club, and then turned loose. Since that day, I've hit thousands of balls and have played 9 holes on three occasions, each time lowering my score significantly.
  
  I've been steadily progressing toward improvement in my ability to hit balls because I take instruction and I work very hard at getting better. However, no improvement until now has come as quickly as the instant improvement that resulted from my using 1 Iron Golf clubs. I love these clubs. I really love them.
  
  Prior to my introduction into golf I knew nothing about anything having to do with the game or the equipment. So, to educate myself I word-searched "golf" and went where it led me. It was by total chance that I found the I Iron Golf site. When I read what David Lake had to say about golf clubs, it made instant sense. Two weeks later I ordered a full set less the #9 wood. A week and a half after that they arrived. Two hours following their arrival I was hitting balls longer, straighter, and more consistently than I had ever hit. The improvement was instant. My stance was more upright. I was actually comfortable. And I was able to hit all the irons (LW-#3) and the #5 & #7 wood. I'm having a little trouble with my #3 wood, trouble that I attribute to something I'm doing differently when I swing the #3. There's no reason to swing the #3 differently than the #5 or #7. I just am for some reason.
  
  The really cool thing about these clubs is that they are all the same length, the irons and the woods respectively. Regardless of which club I have in my hand, when I look down at the ball, I see the same site picture. It has a very calming effect on me and gives me confidence. Thanks David. Sincerely.

  I have been switching back and forth between NG and CG as both methods have their advantages. When I purchased your golf clubs my concern was that Natural Golf says that in using their method the clubs need to be longer and have more upright lie angles. I found that the information on your website was completely correct, that what NG is saying is simply not true. Whether I play CG or NG the clubs you built for me are the perfect length with the perfect lie angle. Also, I have been using regular flex graphite shafts in my golf clubs for the past couple of years and I was hesitant about going back to steel with the flex of the shafts you use. I was very surprised. The shafts in your clubs feel balanced, neither stiff flex or weak flex, and they perform fantastically. I don't really understand the shaft optimization process that you use but it really works. Thanks.

  I saw the 1 Iron Golf website for the first time in May. It took me 2 months of reading and re-reading your website before I became convinced to try the system. I'm sure that I am like most golfers who hesitate and need to be convinced before spending upwards of $600 on a new set of golf clubs. Really the main reason I tried your golf clubs was because you are the only golf company that I know of that offers a 30 day money back gaurantee. Other companies won't refund a single cent if the golf clubs have been used to try them out. I would like to say that I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I can honestly say that if a person can't hit these irons they should give up golf because when you state that they are the most playable clubs in golf you are'nt kidding. I generally switch golf clubs every three to five years but I can tell from the short time that I have been playing these irons that I now have a set to last me the rest of my playing days.

  I read through your website at least ten times and became convinced that your system made great sense. I have since ordered and received a set of 1 Iron Golf clubs. After only four rounds I can honestly say that I have never in my life played golf with this much consistency. Every shot flys straight and true with trajectory I have never had before. My scoring is fantastic and I wish to thank you very much.

  Hi, I'm just an average (maybe below average, honestly) golfer. I wanted to post my story with 1-Iron Golf, and hope that it might help others to read.
  
  A friend showed me the 1-Iron Golf website in February. As an engineer the concepts made great sense to me, and I had experienced many of the things David Lake describes myself. By March I had purchased a complete set of 1-Iron Golf clubs, and got started with them the day I received them. The results were AWFUL! I couldn't hit anything longer then a 5 or 6 iron well, the long irons went mostly straight but I was losing about 20 or 30 yards per club. Even the shorter clubs were going a lesser distance then I was used to. I wrote to Mr. Lake, and he responded with suggestions, and I wrote several posts to this forum. Other golfers offered their help, but I couldn't get anywhere. My shots continued to be shorter, and fat shots and pushes abounded. David kept offering suggestions, and advice to give it time........but that's tough to do. I was ready to throw in the towel, and return the clubs. It just didn't work. The engineer in me recognized that the system made sense, but my body just couldn't "get it done".
  
  Because of timing, I missed the return period and since I had the clubs, decided to just do my best, and try to make the system work. That was the best thing that has ever happened to my golf game!! After 7 weeks, it was still awful. Then one day after a week long business trip, in week 9, I went to the range and started hitting pitches, just lazing through the ball. Good contact, solid contact, straight shots......I went to a 9 iron. Same thing. After about 10 balls I switched to a 7, and guess what? Same thing. I worked my way through the 3 iron. Almost every shot felt solid, flew straight and had a trajectory I've never had before. I was pretty stunned, and wrote to Mr. Lake. David told me that it takes time for your body and mind to adjust, to learn it's natural "correct" setup, swing-plane and swing. Over the last two months my game has steadily improved, my distances are longer then they have EVER been, the accuracy is stunning, and my handicap has dropped 8 strokes. I'm winning some of the bets with my friends, and I honestly believe that in the near future, it's going to be a LOT of them! And best of all, the game is FUN, the way I've always thought it was supposed to be. FUN, not work or a frustrating struggle, feeling that "I just don't get it" feeling. Sometimes I still hit fat ones, and occasionally hang a few to the right, but I'm becoming convinced that's from my posture. At times I "leak back" to my old posture (too much knee flex, bending over too much, narrow stance, etc) and that's when I start to hit 'em bad......basically, when I "think too much" setting up, instead of just trusting my mind's ability to fit myself to the clubs.
  
  
  This stuff works, folks. Give the changes time to take. The principles David has developed are real, they represent sound engineering fundamentals and aren't just theories........they're REAL!!
  
  David, thank you for what you've developed, for your patience and advice and help, and for helping me with all the problems I've encountered. And most of all, thank you for finding a way to make golf what it should be.....fun.
