once upon a time I had a flock of turkeys... The hens will lay enough for a clutch, then go broody. The eggs take 28 days to hatch. However, the hens are not very good mothers and will lose a lot of the little ones if not kept confined in some way. I had banty hens that could set 4 eggs at a time and raise each little poult with out losing a single one. It is a funny sight watching a little banty hen scratching for half grown poults that are twice her size. Oh, the eggs that you don't want to hatch, are great for eating and baking. If you have the huge white broad breasted turkeys, I would candle the eggs to ensure fertility. Those Toms are so big, well, they just can't get the job done. The hens are artificially inseminated on big turkey farms.
