I had to do that a few years ago. My aunt, a widow died suddenly and her only child had died almost a year before. It fell to me to give away her stuff and get the house cleaned out. My Dad was too busy with my mother, she'd just had a bad wreck and then fallen and broken her hip. I found some really neat old stuff in her house.

Sherry got her dining room furniture. She swears that my aunt is living... that's not the right word, but I'd hate to say haunting that furniture. My aunt was a prissy little woman. She thought if you sat down to eat you had to have, table cloth, placemats, napkins and a full set of silverware. Sherry's had Sunday dinners and friends over for dinner and not used a tablecloth. The table is a beautiful old cherry wood wtih not one flaw. Every time she didn't use a table cloth, my aunt displayed her displeasure by opening and closing china cabinet or side board doors. She now makes a point of using a tablecloth.

Sorry you didn't get rain. You guys really need some. My parents said that it was really dry when they were there a week or so ago.
