tomato plants are 2 ft. tall and are beautiful. His peppers look good too. He covered them one night last week when the temps dropped suddenly, but nothing was damaged at all. We've had to work hard to be able to plant anything. I've never seen such rocky soil. There doesn't seem to be even a half inch of top soil. So far we've hauled in 2 large dump trucks of dirt for beds and garden.

We're gonna stop for now and work on Decks and storage buildings...as in build them. We're considering a tree house over a deck that will have a bay magnolia in the middle of it and then a lower level down the hill a couple of ft.

I guess when fall comes around we'll start working on garden spots again so that we can work on the soil all winter and plant it in the spring. That seems to work best for us. I made a beautiful (if I do say so myself) tropical bed for Ed with a banana tree, holly ferns, boston ferns, elephant ears, and sweet potato vines. I guess I'm gonna have to let him expand that bed for some other stuff I've found that would be great there. We're having to build all of the beds with cross ties. There isn't a 2 ft. square flat place on the whole property.
