Can you fill our drummers shoes?

You will have heard the cliché two steps forward and three steps back and local band Blind Frog Ernie probably understand just how it feels after finding a vocalist are now on the lookout for a replacement drummer. They have not let this temporary set back stifle their creative attempts as they have drafted in a temporary replacement in John Dawson of Supermotion and have been hard at work writing and recording a new album, Inner Sanctum.
Blind Frog Ernie have been around the Hull Music scene since the late nineties when they recorded a blues album as Blind Frog Ernie and the Urban Blues Experience and after a few line up changes recently recruited Neil Bailey as lead vocalist to let Dave Fox concentrate on his lead guitar and song writing duties for the band.
With two tracks already recorded (Dead Man Talking and Don’t Know my Name) featuring John Dawson on drums the new line up of the band, completed by Chrissy Ward and Mark Allsopp, have a harder, leaner and altogether more matute sound than their previous album Naked; from the forehead up.
Building on the strengths and experience of the previous line ups of the band the new album Inner Sanctum is planned as, dare I say it, a concept album about a man who has his drink spiked, loses his memory and finds himself on a downward spiral into madness. Even though the album is written as a concept all the songs I have heard, the two finished tracks and three demo/pre-production versions stand on their own strengths and taken in isolation re very impressive. Blind Frog Ernie’s sound has mutated from fairly straightforward blues to an American rock sound and now into a more unique and original style which at times touches on progressive rock without being overblown or pretentious.
If you feel you can fill the drummers spot or just want to know more about the band and what they have planned go to their website www.blindfrogernie.co.uk or email them on blindfrog@blindfrog.karoo.co.uk
