Subject: Bridgnorth Spartans vs Shrewsbury Town 20/10/02

Passion and committment from players is an essential part of football but unfortunately Shrewsbury showed plenty of bad attitude in addition. It is inevitable that sometimes tackles will be mistimed or be the result of unfair play. In this situation the penalised player should just walk away. Shrewsbury's heavy toll of 5 bookings and 1 sending off were the result of talking back to the referee after the foul, thus showing little mental maturity or judgement on the players part.
In addition some of the Shrewsbury supporters were very loudly bad mouthing the referee and generally winding up their own players to express more dissent (and hence more yellow cards). Dumb or what?
I hope that somebody from the Shrewsbury set up will be addressing this flawed behaviour.
