I am writing this response on the day after the tax election so this is not any attempt to influence the election one way or another... Unlike some of your listeners who are "proud" of their opinions but afraid to use their names, I will answer once again the question of future cost of living raises. If there is not sufficient funds for future raises, then raises will not be given. The City Council has already done that last year and will do it again, if necessary, in the future. The tax election was not about cost of living raises raises. It was about adjustments to employees' base pay so that we could remain competitive with other entities. The goal was to attract and retain competent employees. If your listeners have a question about anything I say, instead of posting anonymous fiction on this site, pleae call me directly at 484-4761. Thanks -- Rick Ranson
