Rambus is more expensive and the jury is still out on the future of rambus from my understanding. Performance wise i think its about the same except you have to install 2 modules of rambus at a time unless you use a place holder thing.

If I wanted to go up to 2 gigs of ram I would save about $ 400.00 by using DDR.

Unfortunately Dell doesnt give you the option.
