Tall women. Tall women can indulge in wide belts, avoid tight clothes and skirts that are to short or to long. Beauty expert Stephanie Faber recommends tall women play down their waist by wearing their blouses over the pants and skirts and avoid tight belts. Hip heavy triangle woman. A hip heavy triangle and round full figured women can use clothes with vertical lines to make an up and down illusion. V-necks and skirts with slits up the sides are also good. Clothes with small padded shoulders should be chosen . Too big of pads will make you look like a foot ball player. Wear long tops that go passed your hips. Choose jackets, tailored suits and shirtwaist dresses with straight, classic cuts. Lighter colors on top can be worn, this brings eyes up. Wear dark stockings and avoid patterns. Select vertical, fluid patterns and avoid bulky fabrics. Adopt the just below the knee look in dresses and skirts. Choose accessories close to the same color clothes you are wearing including shoes. This gives your body an unbroken slimmer look. Avoid very wide pinafore skirts. Stay with straight or Aline skirts. Top heavy woman. The top heavy body types need to choose long jackets without shoulder pads. Do not wear blouses with fancy details and ruffles. Do not wear clingy fabrics on top, choose darker colors on top. Do not wear tops that are to light. Tops with dolman or raglan sleeves and ones that fit loose and slims down to hug the hips and waist are good. Wear pants or skirts that are pleated to bring the eye down. Choose thin materials like cotton, or cotton jersey. One color dressing will also be thinning. Flat shoes are best unless you are short, then wear heels. If your legs are in good shape shorter hem lengths will draw attention away from your top. Rectangular type woman. The rectangular type can accentuate curves by wearing jackets or tops that hug the waist, feminine thick sweaters over skirts or pants. Use patterns in your tops or bottoms to add dimension. Round out the neckline with necklaces, scarves and other accessories, and use shoulder pads. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html</a>

How to Eat(WS2136) -- Anonymous, 13:26:23 07/23/08 Wed

Limit yourself to no more than two servings of red meat per week. Make sure that no more than a quarter of your calories comes from fat. Cook your own meals at home and avoid eating at restaurants as much as possible. Eat six to eleven servings of complex carbohydrates (fruits and whole grain breads, pasta and cereals), but avoid white flour when possible. Don't go crazy on the protein. Too much doesn't add muscle, contrary to popular belief. It just turns to fat. Boycott mayonnaise and butter (or margarine). Get them out of your refrigerator. Learn to live without them. Don't be afraid to try low or reduced fat versions of your favorite foods. You may actually like them better when you don't feel guilty eating them. Stay away from energy bars, which imply that they will transform you into a fit person. Most of them are loaded with calories. Make your own smoothies. Those made commercially usually contain fattening syrups, but your home-made smoothies (without the gunk) are very healthy. Use all the garlic, oregano, etc. that you want. Eating healthy doesn't mean you can't pack your food with flavor. Pack a sandwich made with whole-grain bread for lunch. Breads with high fibre make you feel fuller than white bread. Get at least 25 grams of fibre every day. Not only does it ward off disease, but it actually blocks the absorption of calories. Don't be fooled by "fat free" labels. Many of these foods contain a lot of sugar, which eventually turns into fat anyway.
Don't fall into the "it's okay to eat chicken" trap. The Crispy Chicken and Filet o' Fish sandwiches at McDonalds each contain more than twice the fat of a McDonald's hamburger. If you need whipped cream, whip up chilled evaporated skim milk - your creation will contain only half a gram of fat per cup. Use extra water in hot cereals to reduce the amount of milk and butter you use. Use seasoned rice vinegar on salads and veggies. It tastes similar to oil and vinegar, but is is fat-free and has very few calories.
Cook rice in a mixture of half water, half fruit juice to give it subtle flavor without butter and salt. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/howtoeat.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/howtoeat.html</a>

Reduce Varicose Veins. (WS2124) -- Anonymous, 14:35:08 07/14/08 Mon

Although varicose veins certainly lack popularity -- they are right down there with cellulite for the least desirable bodily attribute -- they are actually quite "popular" in that a great many people have them.Up to 30 million Americans have these ropey, bulging veins, usually on the legs. Women age 30 and older are most commonly affected, but no one is immune. Even Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones "can't get no satisfaction" -- he reportedly has calves crisscrossed by them. There are things you can do to reduce them:
Do regular exercise. Walking, running, cycling & swimming keep blood vessels healthy.
Stick to a high-fibre & low-salt diet. Kick off the high heels. Avoid tight-fitting clothings or undergarments that restrict blood flow at the waist, groin & legs (e.g. girdles, stockings & socks). If elastic stockings are recommended, wear them before getting out of bed in the morning. Don't leave legs crossed or bent for a long period. If work requires prolonged standing or sitting, move & stretch those legs, rotate ankles & wiggle the toes once in a while. Do leg stretching exercises daily. Raise legs above the level of the heart whenever possible. Rest those legs on pillows while sleeping. Stop smoking Although varicose veins aren't usually considered a significant health problem, they can make life miserable. "Varicose veins shouldn't be viewed as only a cosmetic concern," said Dr. Alan Hirsch, a specialist in vascular medicine at the University of Minnesota. Often, the discomfort over the veins' appearance is equalled by the aching pain they can cause, particularly after a long day of sitting or standing. In addition, the veins may signal a higher risk for other more serious blood vessel disorders. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.nikhar-e-arab.com/varicoseveins.html">http://www.nikhar-e-arab.com/varicoseveins.html</a>

Eat out On diet (d257) -- Anonymous, 11:52:33 07/04/08 Fri

One of the most common problems people have with losing weight is pitfalls like eating out. Here are a few ways you can control how much you eat:As soon as your food is served, ask for a box and put half of your meal into it, to take home. Restaurant portions are usually twice the size they should be anyway. Don't ruin a nice, low fat salad with creamy dressing. Go for the vinaigrette or oil and vinegar, and use them sparingly.
Don't let yourself down by getting (or sharing) a dessert. Order some fruit or Jell-O instead, if you must have something sweet. Arrive with a healthy meal in mind and ask for it without opening your menu. This will spare you the pain of looking at an array of temptation. After each bite, put your fork down, and don't pick it up again until you've completely swallowed the last bite. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/eatoutondiet.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/eatoutondiet.html</a>

Hands beauty care your nails. -- Anonymous, 04:12:53 07/03/08 Thu

Apply hand lotion and begin to massage the palm of your hand with the thumb of your other hand. This will help to circulate the blood. Work your way over the remainder of the hand and then repeat giving equal time to the other hand. Before color is applied to nails, they must be cleaned and the easiest way to do this is with an orange stick that has been wrapped with cotton. Dip into nail polish remover and then rub over the surface of the nail. Check the nail for any creamy residue. When none remains, your nails will be ready for polishing. Time for color. Pick up a small amount of polish on your brush and paint one stroke down the center of your nail. Your brush should hold just enough color to accomplish this. Stroke the sides of the nail and you are done. The nail should be completely colored in three strokes. Allow to set for a minute or so before applying the second coat. Wait until polish is set (dry to the touch) and then apply the top coat. Don't skip this step as it not only adds life to your manicure, it will protect your nails as well.
Sanitize all of your equipment with alcohol and when they are dry, store them away until the next manicure. Nail Tips: Nail polish can be stored in the fridge. If your nail polish is too thick, try thinning with a polish thinner. To prevent the cap from sticking, coat it with a little Vaseline to prevent this from happening. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/nailcare.html</a>

The Canadian climate: What expect, what clothes to bring (es18) -- Anonymous, 17:50:56 06/28/08 Sat

Most of Canada has four distinct seasons:

spring, summer, autumn and winter.

The temperatures and weather in each season can be different from one part of the country to another. Here is what you can expect.

Spring:

Spring is a rainy season in most parts of Canada. Daytime temperatures rise steadily, but the nights remain cool. Averagedaytime temperatures are about 12°C in March, April and early May.

Summer:

Summer officially begins on June 21, but July and August are summer for most Canadians. In summer, the weather is very warm in most parts of the country. In southern Canada, daytime temperatures are normally above 20°C and can sometimes rise above 30°C.

Autumn:

The autumn season, or fall, as it's often called, begins in September. The weather cools and the leaves on many trees change colour and fall to the ground. It can also be very rainy at this time of year. In some parts of Canada, especially northern or mountain regions, snow may begin to fall by late October. Average daytime temperatures are about 10°C to 12°C in most of the country. The autumn months are September, October and November.

Winter:

During the winter months (December, January and February), the temperature in most of the country usually stays below 0°C, day and night. Temperatures in some parts of the country periodically drop below -25°C, while along the West Coast, the temperature rarely drops below 0°C. In most of Canada, snow will be on the ground from mid-December to the middle of March. The higher in elevation and the farther north you go, the longer and colder winter becomes.
:

If you arrive in Canada in the winter, you will need warm clothing such as insulated, waterproof boots; an overcoat; a scarf for your neck; a hat that covers your ears; and gloves or mittens. If you come from a warm climate, buy some winter clothes before you leave for Canada, if possible. Or, be ready to buy winter clothes soon after arriving (note also that winter clothes are more expensive than summer clothes). You may wish to contact an immigrant-serving organization in your new community for help.

ISAP (Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program)(es18) -- Anonymous, 21:47:18 06/27/08 Fri

ISAP helps newcomers gain access to community services to meet their immediate needs.

Under ISAP, immigrant-serving organizations can:

refer you to economic, social, health, cultural, educational and recreational services;

give you s on banking, shopping, managing a household and other everyday tasks;

provide interpreters or translators, if you need them;

provide non-therapeutic counselling; and

help you prepare a professional-looking résumé and learn job-searching skills.

The Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP), a federal government program, pays for these services.

A list of immigrant-serving organizations across Canada can be found on the Internet
at www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/welcome/wel-20e.html.

:

Your local immigrant-serving organization can direct you to a LINC Assessment Centre, which will then refer you to organizations offering LINC classes. You can also refer to the book Welcome to Canada: What You Should Know to find a LINC Assessment Centre in your area.

Manitoba, British Columbia and Quebec have programs similar to LINC, the Host program and ISAP, but they may have slightly different names.

Your local immigrant-serving organization can direct you to a Host program organization in your community.

Your first few days in Canada - how you make a lease (es18) -- Anonymous, 08:11:23 06/27/08 Fri

Signing a lease

Once you agree to rent an apartment or a house, you may be asked to sign a one-year
lease.

This legal document of one or two pages describes the rental property, the utilities included and the options, such as parking and storage. It may also state whether pets or more people are allowed.

Most apartments are leased by the year, although some are rented monthly.

You will probably need to pay the first and last month's rent when you sign the lease. If your apartment requires a lease, your landlord will give you the lease form to sign. Read it over carefully before you sign it.

Pay special attention to the parts that state exceptions and additions. You should know which utilities you will pay for and which ones will be paid for by the landlord. Be sure you know what the monthly rent payment includes.

For example, is the electricity included? the water included? the parking included? Also find out whether you have to pay a fee if you leave before the lease term is over.

You cannot usually break a lease agreement. It is also likely you will be asked to provide a Canadian reference or to have a co-signer sign the lease to guarantee your financial commitment.

Way to get the Job opportunities in Canada (es18 -- Anonymous, 21:01:00 06/25/08 Wed

Service Canada Centres: Counsellors at these centres can give you free advice and
information about job and language training and work creation programs for newcomers. They can help you plan an effective job search and prepare a résumé of your education and experience. Each centre also has listings of available jobs on computer or on bulletin boards.

Classified advertisements: Every daily newspaper in Canada has a classified advertisements section where you will find a variety of jobs listed. In many areas, there are also weekly or monthly employment papers that advertise jobs.
Local help: To help newcomers prepare to enter the Canadian work force or to gain
access to their profession or trade in Canada, immigrant-serving organizations have a variety of programs. Some give workshops on job search skills, where participants get an overview of the job market where they live. Participants learn, among other things, how to write a good
résumé and how to behave in an interview. In some areas, there are jobfinding clubs, mentoring programs, programs to help you get volunteer work experience, and wage subsidy programs.

Your personal "network": One of the best ways to learn about jobs is to talk to people. They can be people you know well, or people you have just met. Even if they cannot lead you directly to a job, they can provide you with information, ideas and names of other people who might be able to help and encourage you.
The Internet: Many Web sites have information on job opportunities. You can search for a job on-line in any part of Canada. Some sites also give practical advice on how to plan your job search. Others allow you to apply for a job directly on the Internet, or to post your
résumé (in English or French). When you do this, your résumé goes into a database that can be searched by employers. Try visiting the following Web sites, run by the federal government.

www.directioncanada.gc.ca: The Going to Canada Immigration Portal is an important resource that provides on-line information and services from a variety of government and non-government sources to help you make informed decisions about coming to Canada.

www.hrsdc.gc.ca: This is the national Web site of Human Resources and Social Development Canada, a federal department.

www.jobsetc.ca: This site will take you through all the steps needed to choose a career and to carry out an effective work search.

www.workinfonet.ca: This is a national site for career and labour market information. It will link you to job information for each province and territory. It also includes information on self-employment, education and training.

www.SkillNet.ca: This is a large network of job and career information Web sites. It can link you to full-time and part-time job opportunities. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/job.htm">http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/job.htm</a>

Hands beauty care your nails. (OD010) -- Anonymous, 02:23:47 06/25/08 Wed

Apply hand lotion and begin to massage the palm of your hand with the thumb of your other hand. This will help to circulate

the blood. Work your way over the remainder of the hand and then repeat giving equal time to the other hand. Before color is

applied to nails, they must be cleaned and the easiest way to do this is with an orange stick that has been wrapped with

Around the communities of Canada (es18) -- Anonymous, 12:39:17 06/24/08 Tue

Most newcomers to Canada tend to settle in the three biggest cities - Toronto, Montréal
and Vancouver. But many newcomers and many Canadians choose to live in the medium-sized cities, which they feel have as much to offer as the larger cities with a better quality of life.

Among the medium-sized cities are St. John's, Halifax, Québec City, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, Kitchener, St. Catharines, Oshawa, Windsor, Sudbury, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Victoria.

All of the medium-sized cities have diverse, multi-ethnic populations ranging in size from approximately 150,000 to one million people, and all have the variety of public and private institutions and services found in the largest cities.

Some newcomers like the idea of living in smaller cities or towns like Moncton, Fredericton, Red Deer and Kelowna or prefer to live in a rural area. Depending on your skills or professional qualifications, some regions may have better job opportunities than others.

Each Web site has a list of government departments and agencies. In the bigger provinces, some government departments may have their own Web sites, with more detailed information. You may also find a directory of on-line services, a link to educational institutions, and a link to major cities and towns. Most of the Web sites also have a tourism section, where you can
discover the special attractions of each province and territory.

The Web site has links to information on the labour market and the housing market of communities across Canada. It also has useful s and information about moving within Canada.

Francophone communities: French is the mother tongue of 6.6 million Canadians. Most Francophones live in Quebec, but almost one million live in Canada's other provinces and territories.

: Research carefully the labour market trends or access to your profession in the province and city where you wish to live.

: To locate the medium-sized cities on a map of Canada, go to pages 26 and 27.

: Outside the larger cities, the costs of housing, higher education and services are often much lower.Visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/communities.htm">http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/communities.htm</a>

How to Eat.(OD031) -- Anonymous, 12:04:01 06/24/08 Tue

Schools and Universities of Canada (es18)) -- Anonymous, 08:24:50 06/24/08 Tue

There is no national school system in Canada. Schools and universities are run by the provinces; therefore, education varies somewhat from province to province. Most elementary and secondary schooling is public, meaning it is free and open to everyone. Depending on the individual province, primary eduation starts at pre-kindergarten and continues to the end of grade 6 or 8.

This is followed by secondary education or high school. In some provinces this may be divided into junior high (grades 7 to 9) and senior high (grades 10 to 12). Normally, students must complete the required academic courses in high school in order to be admitted to university or college.

The regular school year runs from late August or early September until mid- to late June.
New students can usually be registered throughout the school year. Most schools are
closed on national holidays. Also, all schools are closed between Christmas Eve and New
Year's Day, and most are closed for a week in March for spring break. The longest school
holiday occurs over the summer months of July and August.
Universities and community colleges hold their regular classes from late August or early
September until April, although some courses are offered from January to April and a smaller number are available over the summer months. University and community college courses are not free and the costs vary among the provinces.

When you register your children at the local school or school board office, you must take with you:

Canadian immigrant visa (permanent resident card);

birth certificate or baptismal certificate;

vaccination certificate;

any previous school records.

Your children's language and mathematical skills will be assessed, if necessary, and they will be placed in the program the school thinks is best for them.

Education in Canada is available in English and French. Many Canadian parents, even if they do not speak French themselves, believe it is good for their children to be able to speak both English and French. Some put their children in a French immersion program, where children learn most of the regular subjects in French.

Back Pain.(d257) -- Anonymous, 18:39:46 06/16/08 Mon

Avoid any sudden strain. If you are going to have to bend in any way make sure that your back is not cold and stiff. Exercise regularly to loosen up the back and strengthen its supporting abdominal muscles. Stretching your back helps loosen it and prevent injury.

If you sit for long periods, make sure your back is properly supported. Place a small roll in the arch of your lower spine (at waist height) to maintain its normal S-curve. Simply a towel, or cushion rolled up will do.

When lifting, never bend down from the waist, lower and raise yourself at the knees. Keep your back straight and hold the object close to your body. If you are going to carry anything any distance that may be heavy, make sure that your way is clear. You do not want to be dodging around things when you are carrying.

Balance items you carry evenly on both sides of your body and hold them close or use a knapsack.

Sleep on your back if possible, with knees raised on a pillow. If you sleep on your side, a pillow between the knees is a big help.

If you need a firm bed, place a board between the mattress and the box spring. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/backacheprevention.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/backacheprevention.html</a>

The Canadian climate: What to expect and what clothes to bring(OD2102) -- Anonymous, 08:48:17 06/13/08 Fri

Old age benifits in Canada.(WS3535) -- Anonymous, 13:42:11 06/09/08 Mon

A senior citizen is someone 65 years of age or older. It is common in Canadian society for healthy senior citizens to live on their own, instead of living with their children. Older people who need special care often move to a retirement or nursing home that provides trained staff and health-care workers.

However, many Canadians still care for older family members in their own home. Old Age Security: The Old Age Security (OAS) program ensures a basic income to all people in Canada 65 years of age or over who meet the residency requirements. Usually, OAS is paid after a person has lived in Canada at least 10 years, although people who have lived or worked in countries with which Canada has an agreement may qualify after as little as one year. Low-income people who get OAS may also qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) and their spouses (or widows) may also qualify for the Spouse's Allowance if they are between 60 and 64 years of age.

Get rid of bed breath.(WS3535) -- Anonymous, 04:39:45 06/07/08 Sat

Bad breath (halitosis) is a common problem which often comes from the activity of bacteria in the mouth. Although there is no way of knowing for sure, most adults probably suffer from bad breath occasionally, with perhaps a quarter suffering on a regular basis. Bad breath is a sure-fire way to send potential suitors scrambling for the exits. Chances are, that yummy chicken you enjoyed at lunch is still hanging around in your mouth, which can cause less-than-pleasant-smelling bacteria to form, especially on your tongue. Our bad-breath weapon of choice is a tongue scraper, which some say resembles a medieval torture implement but is actually a disposable U-shaped plastic tool with tiny ridges on one side. It's very easy to use, and it will help clear away any leftover food and odor-causing bacteria that have settled on your tongue. Starting at the back of your mouth, gently drag the scraper along your tongue two or three times, rinsing it in between each pass. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/badbreath.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/badbreath.html</a>

Lower back pain preventions.(WS3535) -- Anonymous, 14:06:41 06/06/08 Fri

Eight out of ten Americans will experience a backache at some point. Back pain is the second most common reason for doctor visits in the U.S. The causes of lower back pain are numerous. Some of the more common causes of lower back pain are:

Sudden injury to the back such as may occur in an auto accident, fall, sports, or other manner.
Gynecological conditions such as endometriosis, menstrual cramps, fibroid tumors, and pregnancy are sometimes the cause of lower back pain in women.
Stress to the muscles, nerves, or ligaments in the lower back.
Certain jobs such as those that require repetitive movements, sitting in chairs that are not ergonomically proper for your back, or standing for long periods of time often increase back stress and cause lower back pain.
Arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and other bone or joint diseases often cause lower back pain.
Not getting enough physical activity, being sedentary, or being overweight often stresses the lower back causing pain.
Slipped discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, aging, and infections are other common causes of lower back pain.
Smoking. More than 1300 physicians were followed from time of graduation (1948-1964) from John Hopkins University, some for over fifty years. The researchers found that smoking history, hypertension, and coronary artery disease (risk factors for atherosclerosis, occlusion of the arteries) are significantly associated with development of lower back pain.
Because there are so many causes of lower back pain, some serious such as spinal tumors, if you experience lower back pain see your health care provider for diagnosis. If your lower back pain is sudden and severe and it is not during your provider's office hours, go immediately to your local hospital emergency room. visit: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://nikhar-e-arab.com/backacheprevention.html">http://nikhar-e-arab.com/backacheprevention.html</a>

Settlement in Canada as citizen. (OD2345) -- Anonymous, 04:54:40 05/12/08 Mon

This sitewill help you get ready to leave your home country and make a new life in Canada. It was written especially for newcomers. It tells you what documents you will need to bring, what to expect in the first few days and weeks, how to find a place to live, get a Social Insurance Number and a healthcare card, and find a job. It also explains what services you can expect to receive from the immigrant-serving organizations across Canada. You will also find useful information about Canada's geography, history, government and way of life, and how to become a Canadian citizen.

You can either read this site from cover to cover, or one section at a time, depending on what you need to know. If you have access to the Internet, you can do more research before you leave for Canada by visiting the Web sites listed.

Wake-up your energy which is inside in you (OD4565) -- Anonymous, 03:04:21 04/20/08 Sun

Message Description:

Increase Your Magnesium Intake

Eating a balanced diet can help ensure your vitamin and mineral needs are met. But if you still find yourself too pooped to pop, you could have a slight magnesium deficiency, Heller says.

"This mineral is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including breaking down glucose into energy," Heller says. "So when levels are even a little low, energy can drop."

In a study done at the Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, N.D., women with magnesium deficiencies had higher heart rates and required more oxygen to do physical tasks than they did after their magnesium levels were restored. In essence, their bodies were working harder which, over time, says Heller, can leave you feeling depleted.

The recommended daily intake of magnesium is around 300 milligrams for women and 350 milligrams for men. To make sure you're getting enough, Heller suggests:

Add a handful of almonds, hazelnuts or cashews to your daily diet.
Increase your intake of whole grains, particularly bran cereal.
Eat more fish, especially halibut

Healthy Tips for Healthy Minds (OD022) -- Anonymous, 12:35:58 04/08/08 Tue

Positivity rules
Try to stay open-minded and positive. Negative, rigid and inflexible attitudes decrease your ability to deal with the stresses of life and prevent you from enjoying yourself.
Get your zzz’s
Be sure to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Fatigue can interfere with the information you have already stored and your ability to learn new things.
Beneficial B12
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to serious and irreversible physiological and psychological problems. Get your intake from foods of animal origin like meat, fish, eggs and dairy products.
Stress-free solutions
To combat stress, go outside for a brisk walk instead of smoking a cigarette. Reach for your running shoes instead of the TV remote or a chocolate bar. Regular physical activity (at least 30 minutes a day for most days of the week) and a healthy, balanced, low-fat diet will not only make you feel better but help you to better manage your stress.
Morning energy
Need a boost in the mornings? Time your coffeemaker so that the aroma of coffee coincides with your alarm. Sing in the shower. Use lotions with stimulating scents such as mint. Plan at least one fun thing to do each day. Eat breakfast. Listen to a radio station that makes you laugh – laughter is one of the best energizers around!

ISAP (Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program)(008) -- Anonymous, 09:12:14 03/24/08 Mon

ISAP helps newcomers gain access to community services to meet their immediate needs.

Under ISAP, immigrant-serving organizations can:

* refer you to economic, social, health, cultural, educational and recreational services;
* give you s on banking, shopping, managing a household and other everyday tasks;
* provide interpreters or translators, if you need them;
* provide non-therapeutic counselling; and
* help you prepare a professional-looking résumé and learn job-searching skills.

Enter the world of arabian beauty -- Anonymous, 00:36:07 02/04/08 Mon

The world of beauty is a mad, funny, seductive world. Miss-guided in some ways, misleading in others, it's also a source of great pleasure to great many women. Good skin care-along with a healthy diet and exercise-is basic to beauty. So at least once, treat yourself to professional consolation and a facial, just to learn the ropes, along with some guidelines about best cosmetics and caring for your skin. We all have our own unique beauty that is natural to every woman. The way we feel about ourselves shines through to the outer image that we project. Explore the World of Beauty.

I AM NEW TO THE PAGEANT WORLD AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING? -- Anonymous, 12:47:24 12/04/06 Mon

Ok I am so new to all of this, if any of you have any advice I would gladly take it. My Mom seems to think I am wasteing my money because she says it ain't about beauty or personality , just about how much money you got to put into it, the more expensive photos win, the more expensive dress wins the most expensive fake hair wins, the most expensive extra outfits win,the people who hire someone to do coaching win, not to metion hotels and hair and make-up fees. some please tell me she is wrong. I have fun with my daughter but I don't have that kind of money so am I wasting my time? I made her dress it is ok not the best but ok and she has her own hair , no fake nails or eyelashes, and i am trying to show her how to walk , i don't have a pageant coach. Thanks for your opinion i will take it to heart.

MTV's "Tiara Girls" TV Show -- Anonymous, 12:13:36 06/01/06 Thu

We are currently casting for a second season of the highly rated MTV “Tiara Girls”, a documentary series that follows girls as they prepare for upcoming pageants. MTV “Tiara Girls” aims to show viewers all the hard work and determination that goes into preparing for pageants.

America is obsessed with pageants and the beautiful girls that enter them. So why do you compete? Do your peers give you a hard time? Do you ever have to deal with jealousy? Does your family support you? Have you ever competed in a pageant with an unusual twist; something off the beaten path?

If you are preparing for an upcoming pageant -- no matter how big or small – we’d like you to share your story and reveal to the world what really goes on in the life of a pageant girl. If you appear to be between the ages of 16 and 26 and are willing to share your story on camera write to us at cleigh@pinksneakers.net. Please include your name, location, contact info and a recent photo.

there is some pretty interesting conversation going on in air it all, it seems most of those links deal with pageants, are there any more you know of that focus mainly on online photo contests? i am trying to find a place that tells you which ones are bad to enter.

Some contests seem to favor a particular photographer. -- Anonymous, 07:05:17 10/09/02 Wed

I've learned not to enter contests that never have my photographer's pictures win or who don't have a variety. Ever notice that a picture that was really not that special will win every time in a contest that favors one photographer.

Well you might as well name the contest at least! All this post is doing is letting people's imaginations run rampant & more than photo will be singled out. So since you brang it up you might as well save us the trouble and post the contest.

Your kidding right???? You have been going on about BC pic? That pic has been around for almost 2 years and has won more national photogenic titles and photo contests then you can imagine. BTW if you ever saw the photo in person you would see just how gorgeous it is.

Then get new ones, by now the child has surely grown hair. Hopefully the mother has got taste in clothes also. Because most of her photos are freaky.

OK you have lost me completely now. Now she wins because she has alot of photos from different photographers? So all these photographers have deals made with contests so they can get clients to win????? Your making no sense at all. Fact of the matter is her photos win alot. She wins NATIONAL pageants with them not just rinky dink photo contests. Obviously you dont like the child but you are not the judge and they seem to find her photogenic and beautiful.

National Mother Daughter Pageant Annouced -- Anonymous, 12:52:24 11/06/04 Sat

National Mother Daughter Pageant is announced:

Since I can remember there has not been a pageant on a National level for mothers and daughters. At least not since the 80's.

I have created a National Mother Daughter Pageant. It is based on the relationship between mother and daughter. Not just a pageant, but a legacy to leave to your daughter and or Mother.

I am very proud to announce the National America's Mother Daughter Pageant. The website is motherdaughterpageant.com

Enjoy

Older Beauties vs Young Cuties -- Anonymous, 21:54:20 08/04/04 Wed

Hi everyone. This is not meant as a bash, im just looking for your personal opinion. We are sort of newbies to pageants and have been considering entering natural photo contests online. The only thing stopping us is trying to figure out exactly what the judges are looking for. Go to www.allamericangirlpc.com and see how tough the competition is. I saw a few predictions on other boards about winners but no-one predicted who I thought would win, which proves I am obviously clueless about what the judges are looking for lol! My daughter is friends with Natasha who is entered in that contest. Just wondering if you could say what it is that is preventing her from winning. We have been following her entries in a number of natural contests and she is always beaten by either cute kids or middle age children. What is it the judges are looking for? Again, this is not meant to be a bash at all, just wondering if you could give us some pointers for when we go to get photos taken. We hope to enter (and win lol) but need to know what kind of photos would help an older girl to win against young children. Cute children are very manipulative as they are sooo adorable, and we need something that can beat that lol. Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated!!!

I have a photo contest that has been around for a little while now. It is definitely a good one and has glitz pictures only. Not cheesy at all promise! Right now it awards jackpot though with a low entry fee of $10. I need your input on what you want...

A: Keep it $10; $20 unlimited entry with jackpot of half the money no matter what, no extensions on the month.

B: Go to $15 entry fee; $25 unlimited and with minimum contestants gaurunteed $200 cash for one Grand.

C: Go to $15 entry fee; $25 unlimited with minimum contestants gaurunteed $100 to grand; $50 to two mini's.

D: Go to $20 entry fee; $25 unlimited with minimum contestants gaurunteed $100 to three supremes 0-4;5-9;10up.

Thanks I really appreciate your input!

Queen for a Day -- Anonymous, 18:06:03 06/21/04 Mon

Please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested...thank you…

Hey everyone,
My name is Robbie Wilson & I am with a non-profit organization called Queen for a Day. The goal of this non-profit is to raise the self-esteem & self-confidence of young girls with cancer (or other illnesses). We do this by hosting tea parties at hospitals where the girls receive a make-over & tiaras (donated by titleholders or pageant companies across the country)! The girls have their pictures taken with a title holder to commemorate this special day!

Since we are a non-profit we rely heavily on donations & we are running EXTREMELY low on tiaras! The National Headquarters has had to supply tiaras for 19 parties in the last 3 months & it has taken a heavy toll on our tiaras. If you would like to donate your tiaras, or know somebody who would like to, please contact me at Qfadmemphis@aol.com

Also, here is the website address www.qfad.org

Please go check it out & if you have any tiaras you could let go of let me know...the girls absolutely love it!

Thanks so much for your time!
Have a great day,
Robbie Wilson

I am so damn tired of seeing the same photos win over and over! -- Give someone else a chance! -- Anonymous, 18:13:07 12/28/02 Sat

It would be nice if these people that have the expensive, flawless, touched up photos would only enter the pay contests, and leave the free contests to us who can't afford "the Best".
I'm so damn tired of seeing some of these photos in EVERY pay and free photo contest I consider entering!

Give someone else a chance!

Some Contest hold open to get the required number of Contestants to Close!!! So they can pay out the Money promised and not prorate!! I think everyone rather get the whole amount they won! If it says in there rules they will hold open to get minimum amount of Contestants to Close!! I guess you need to read the Rules!! They are not thief's! They want to pay out the total amount Promised!!!

I agree! I have a photo contest/pageant that is fee based but has to be because of the prizes. Prizes consist of trophie/sashes/crowns/medallions/plaques/certificates/ribbons/and other prizes. I am new at this and my contest is new, i have only had one contestant and her picture with her trophy, sash, and crown are on my website page. the cost is 25 for main contest and 5 for each optional category. i have all the categories that a pageant would have. everyone receives one of the prizes above no matter whether you win or not. Please feel free to check it out!

I do not accept any photo enhanced/makeup photos i only accept natural look photos/snapshots. If you send me any pictures of your children with makeup on i will not accept them.

Pics were posted on the site one week after the deadline so there is no believable reason that these girls could not be posted too…unless they were not entered, or entered late!

Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm??? Dana Major has offered FREE photo shoots to all cotestants who think they were done wrong in any way, only to receive mean and hateful emails back. She has went out of her way to make everyone happy, but refuses to take these wins away from these girls who entered just like all the rest. So put that in your big fat pipe and smoke it. well, if the pics were of her at 4 then it would not be fair to expect her to compete with 5 and up either JMHO (NT) -- No name, 21:06:40 01/09/03 Thu
Very fair because I entered her when she was 4 and she won when she was 4. (NT) -- Amy, 16:22:44 01/10/03 Fri
HER PICTURES ARE NOT THAT HOT, AND SHE KNOWS IT, THAT'S WHY SHE CHARGES ONLY $200. JUST BECAUSE YOU OWN AN EXPENSIVE CAMERA, THAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU A PHOTOGRAPHER. JACK OF ALL TRADES, MASTER OF NONE. SHE OUGHT TO STICK TO H/M (NT) -- No name, 20:02:59 01/08/03 Wed
what really convinces me that its not right is that the girls moms have not had a thing to say. If it was Mine on that banner I would be proving it was won fair! Or if I was Dana I would be proving it! (NT) -- No name, 21:11:53 01/09/03 Thu
I did have something to say. Apparently you didn't read my reply post on Bravo. I was emailed the link to this board by a friend who is in the Babys in Pageants group. I paid my fees just like everybody else and Fae was entered. I entered several contests in December SPECIFICALLY because Fae was turning 5 in January and December was the last month to enter her pictures in contests that had 0-4 age groups. (NT) -- Amy, 16:21:11 01/10/03 Fri
What date did you enter her? (NT) -- No name, 18:43:42 01/11/03 Sat
I would like to know if Hillary F. was truly entered in this contest. She is a Florida kid, big name, with awesome pics, and is in no need of crappy pics from Dana Majors. I have seen her work first hand and I wouldn't ask her to photograph my dog for free. She is AWFUL!!!! Please save your money and go somewhere else. (NT) -- No name, 11:33:01 01/11/03 Sat

do you know anything about the copied photo drama? -- Anonymous, 19:39:38 01/01/03 Wed

i was reading something on another voy board about someone who had copied a very expensive pageant girls photo and just put her kids face in it, but I have no idea who this was. I would really like to know, the lady may have stolen more photos from other people. That's just freaky. I wouldn't mind seeing the photos, either. Dumb question.... But ... -- Anonymous, 11:56:40 10/16/02 Wed

how do people know who the photographer is on these photos?

I assume that maybe when the photos are entered, they have to let it be known, but I don't think I've ever seen a photo contest that posts the photographer right along side of the photo.

I don't necessarily think that people 'know' who the photographers are. The problem is that with the amt. of COI in these on-line photo contests chances are the directors know who takes the pics. With the amt. of certain photographers that win certain contests it's kind of strange that nobody thinks there may be something other than a fair contest going on. I think in some of them it's more of a who-knows-who and who can get free pics, advertising, wins for their kid, etc. Don't the directors have to know who has copyrights to the pics to be able to use them on banners and in ads anyway? Also if you look at certain styles of photos you will be able to tell the difference easily. JMO and something to think about.

We have actually been bashed on some boards, when she wins, for beating big name pictures, because some feel that "there is just no way that a TO/ MB/ JB picture could be beaten" etc.

I have yet to see one photo contest that noticibly sways toward one photographer. If I have missed something, please leave the link to the contest so I can see for myself.

Thanks.

My child has won too, with a no name photographer, both on and off line. I think where the trouble comes is there are a few names out there and lots of photos that yes it can seem that the same ones win over and over. It would also seem that the same photographers win over and over. I honestly think for the most part contest directors are honest.Yes, that being said I think that there are still those who are dishonest, and that do try to swindle people.

OK so lets take TO for example her photos win all over. Do you think ALL the directors are letting her photos win to get something from her?

maybe the reason it seems certain photographers photos are winning everywhere is because those photographers are very good at what they do! People keep going to them over and over, and recommend them to others who need shots done. It only makes sense that they would be doing a lot of business because of this. and that more and more people are using the same ones!

It's nice to know there is another mom out there doing well despite those who say it is impossible! LOL. To the poster below who doesn't believe me....you're loss. For the record i do not enter snapshot contests, I don't like them. We have pageant pics & that's where we stay. My child has won & lost. She has won big contests and over name photograhers. I'm sure in due time everyone will know our photographer too and will classify our photographer as a "name", but right now only a small area of kids use this person and they all do very well.
I have only entered my child in one contest that I did not feel was legitimate. As a consumer, I have chosen to not enter again. We have done bunches of contests and had only one negative experience. I thank the directors win or lose.

Conspiracy theories went out in the 60's.

I'm the other mom and I know my daughter does well with HER no name photographer. We have snap shots that we enter in SNAPSHOT CONTEST. We have pageant photos that we enter in pageant contest. We have both one and loss against big name photographers. I think for the most part they are fair. In fact We've one overall photogenics at pageants against name photos. Me being the photographer. So there goes your conspiracy theory.

I think what the discussion was about is that several kids were named that constantly win. -- Anonymous, 07:01:15 10/09/02 Wed

Some posters said that they should not continue to enter contests that they have already won. What do you think?

Since my child's name was brought up again, I will post again. I am Nikole's mom and once she wins grand in a photo contest we do not enter it again. If she wins a mini, we may continue to enter trying to win grand though. In the past 4 months she has only won 1 grand and that was Gem Girls (pay contest that is). Nikole isn't competing currently because she is on a "braces" break and is involved in other things outside of pageants, but she still likes to enter photo contests and see her photos on banners. Since we have the photos, we might as well get some use out of them.
It's a great honor to Nikole when she wins a photo contest, there were many years where she would rarely place in photo contests and pageants, so she thinks every win is special no matter the prize.
And before "tradeoffs" make it's way to this discussion on this board, I would like to say I would NEVER have any part in that. I would NEVER ask for a trade off, nor want a trade off. If my children cannot win on their photogenic abilities alone I would rather them NEVER win!! That being said, I do run a free photo contest and would NEVER offer of consider a trade off from anyone who entered my contest. I try very hard every month to get the best qualified judges I can find (who are willing to judge for free). I have on occasion thrown out scores when it's seemed that a judge was trying to "choose" the winner and will not hesitate to throw out scores again if it were to ever happen again.
Thanks,
Cher

I'm sorry that you feel that way, but the judges didn't agree with you. She consistently had high scores!! Her high score that was dropped was 40 (she had other 40's too). I understand that everyone will not always agree with the winners, but I do have judges for a reason and I will stand by their decisions. (Remember high/low scores were dropped this month).
Also, remember the photo contest isn't judged on "the judges favorite", there were several criteria that was judged; 1st impression, facial beauty, photogenic appeal and overall appeal.
Not every child can win, and they were all beautiful!!!!
Whether a person agrees or not, with the winners I can't change. But, I can ask that people not take away from those that did win. Because next month, it could be your child that wins and if someone posted the same thing about your child, it would be hurtful.
Thank you,
Cher/YGTL

Thank you. I'm not bothered when people talk about the contest, because that will happen. But, it does bother me when children are singled out to be talked about negatively. I'm sure the mother of the child being talked about would appreciate the post being removed. Thanks for your kind offer.
Cher

I'll add some: Kaylee H., Caitlyn R., (she entered the very next month after winning big!) LKPabst, S.Wallace (better watch I will get attacked for that one!) but I don't care-it's the truth.

AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!! -- Anonymous, 05:23:15 10/11/02 Fri

IF YOU DON'T HAVE TONI PICS, DON'T BOTHER ENTERING THE ONLINE CONTESTS. SHE HAS THEM ALL FIXED SO THAT HER PICS WIN. SOMETIMES, YES THEY ARE THE BEST PIC, BUT MOST OF THE TIME NOT. SHE HAS ALL THESE DIRECTORS WORKING WITH HER TO BRING HER MORE CUSTOMERS. FYI, BY THE TIME YOU GET YOUR PICS, HER CHARADE WILL BE LONG OVER AND YOU STILL WON'T WIN.

That is such a stupid statement. Her photos win because they are great. I would love to know what you think the trade off is with the directors? I dont even know any of them that use Toni O.

Just wondering why Olivia P. {10-12} gets to put in two different pictures when it states in the rules one picture per contestant? FAIR? I DON'T THINK SO!

I don't think that the one that win all the time should. They have good pictures but not so much better than others that they would ALWAYS win. -- Anonymous, 07:03:25 10/09/02 Wed
