Opens up her window

The lightning lights the summer sky

The smell of rain on a southern night

Steps outside the front screen

Backlit clouds thru sheets of rain

She sits down on the front porch swing

Everytime she hears the thunder

She thinks back to at least a hundred

Times she wished she'd been

Somewhere else with him

But she chose to stay

So she sits and watches

The rain
