The busy street hides its angels
as indifference strolls it many sidewalks
carrying eyes that only see blurred colors
and each pointing for someplace to be

A world within ourselves, alienated
by the cold and callus fortified stares
of our complacent and hurried selves,
turning corners for some appointment

And the angels, can you spare a dime,
cower and politely beg for your money
Displaying by example, the impoverishment
of the truth hidden behind dirty spectacles

For they are our own angels, many fallen
to the neglect of our pocketed misery
Where we put our hands to hide the blood,
the crucifix, the nails and the scars of who we are

Yet, in the day, the messenger pleads
for us to come into the light of the human race
while the day has not lost its patience
and many angels still keep a watchful eye
