Melancholy balloons of miserable blue
Fill the void of soul
That resides within the heart of a lover denied
A pale existence
Of day to day
Meandering streams of life and living
That flow eternally
Without passion, without destination
An inner vision
Of opened pipelines
Cut with the liberator of despair
The hope of a new world
From which pumps the loneliness
And a blue balloon becomes a joyous red
In its newfound freedom
From the dismal ache
Its rapture at having found the bathroom floor
Obvious
As it paints its message
Across linoleum marked
By a mere one set of footprints
