Hey there, I have a 1957 35' sea skiff and recently had the engines completely restored to new condition. The existing engines were raw water cooled Chris Craft 327 F's which replaced the originals in 1969. They were run mostly in salt water areas. When I discussed the restoration of these 327's, I asked the gentleman that was going to restore them about fresh water cooling. His question to me was "How long did they last the first time without fresh water cooling?" (More than thirty years)

His thoughts were that the fresh water cooling adds one more system that could possibly fail and how much does it really add to the life of the engines? Just another point of view.

I wish you all the best.

Chip
