Inter Varsity Folk Dancing Festival? http://www.ivfdf.org/

I had never heard of it, but looking at the website, it sounds like a great event! Who said it would not be possible to do a 2-day ivda? They're doing 3 days, and it seems very successful! And cheap (13 pounds), popular (similar number of people as IVDA)

Has anyone been to one? Are there any reasons why this would not be possible with IVDA in principle (maybe too late this year)?

We could have some workshops in the mornings, maybe a welcome ball/social/party on the friday, early rounds on the Saturday including the qualifier for the team match, and the later rounds on the sunday (say QF onwards).

There would be time to include a latino/r&r/freestyle section, and we might even be able to have a preliminary round for the off-beat with the top 5 having a final on the sunday...

There's so much potential! Would people be prepared to pay 15 pounds + accomodation (maybe in a gym for very cheap, or youth hostel) for a weekend like that? I know i would...

Just need to find someone stupid enough to organise it :). But looking at the Folk dancers it seems that a very similar event is possible!

Robin
