Subject: LGRAW Meets GSC - An After Action Report

If you missed announcements this morning, here's an expanded version of my comments:

Rich Stroot, friend of mine and Tom Zack's, also a board member of the Grapevine Sailing Club (GSC), was telling his sailing buddies about what terrific time he had at our clubhouse last week, so their board asked RAW to make a 5 - 10 minute presentation at their monthly meeting last night. I barely made it in time given the short notice, but passed out 2 dozen flyers, sold a raffle ticket, introduced the club, and answered questions for an hour! I was also invited to sail on about 3 different boats - not bad for an evening's work. There were about 4 of them seriously interested in riding, about 6 more seriously interested in walking/running, and quite a few more with at least casual interest. They had about 70 people in attendance and many approached and thanked me for taking the time to tell them about the club. Rich and I see a lot of synergy between our two sports clubs: about 9 RAW members sail regularly, and on the GSC side, they're wanting to get in better shape, always looking for more people to socialize with, and interested in new ways to enjoy the lakeside park environment.

In an effort to reach out, they invited the entire RAW club to their Caribbean Dinner Party 7:30 pm on 8/16 at Scott's Landing party room. I left the flyer in the clubhouse and will copy this to the RAW web site. Tickets are $15 to cover costs of the catered BBQ dinner and the entertainment (music by Tommy-O starts at 8 pm.)and are available at the marina office or at Big Daddy's (at the end of the marina dock) "Fun and Games all night long." They're trying to get permission for us to bring the Harley into the Marina's meeting room in case we're interested, and I'm sure they'll buy more tickets once they see it.

They partied until midnight last night, but Rich and 2 new folks (Dean and Terry) still managed to show up at the clubhouse this morning!
