Chapter Two
7:30 am
The next morning
Bethan ran, like she did every day, the sun warmed her and she smiled to herself. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the spirit of her mother. She was in all white and was standing by a path that lead into the woods.
?Mum?? she whispered. The spirit began to descend into the deep, vast woods. Bethan had no choice, but to follow. The spirit led her to a path, and something was there. Getting closer the thing turned into a human shape. She sprinted over to the human form, she realized that it was a woman.
?Oh no? she whispered, she turned over the woman and screamed in horror. Running as fast as she could she headed back to the house.
From inside the house Beans, Chris, and Anya heard Bethan scream. They shot outside and saw Bethan running towards them.
?Bethan, what id it?? Anya asked, they helped Bethan inside.
?Jax?, She?s in the woods? She was covered in blood?, I think she was?? Bethan stopped and tried to breath.
?Where?? Beans asked, nearly running out of the house.
?I think she was raped. Her dress was torn up. She?s on the path by the willow tree.? Bethan said, to Chris and Anya she said ?I can?t breathe, can you get me some water.? Anya went to the kitchen and got her a glass. Chris called an ambulance while Beans ran out to find Jax.
Once on the trail, he immediately saw her.
?Jax!? he cried, at once he was at her side. He held her to his chest and began to inspect the wounds. He saw dried blood cake her head; cuts, bruises, and gashes covered her body and as Bethan said, her dress was torn. She moaned softly, and cracked her eyes open.
?Beans? he whispered, the slowly brought a shaking hand up to touch the side of his face, to see if she wasn?t imagining him.
?I?m here, I?m here. Stay with me now.? He said.
?Hurts? she moaned. He didn?t know what to say. Since he wasn?t a woman, he couldn?t imagine how she was feeling. He quickly carried her back to the house, where a mob of people stood around. Chris began moving people out of the way. The ambulance that he (Chris) had called wasn?t there. Beans took off his coat and balled it up. Laying Jax down he rested her head on his coat. Anya pushed her way through the crowd and gasped when she saw Jax. She bolted over to her side and help Beans try to cover Jax up, where her dress was torn; her long skirt was ripped up to her high thigh, it was also ripped around her stomach. Anya began to examine Jax head. The sound of the ambulance siren made her jump.
?Move aside all of you!? the MT?s yelled. They picked up Jax and place her on a stretcher.
?Can I go with you, please?? Beans asked. The MT?s nodded and he climbed in. The ambulance pulled out and drove to the hospital.
Anya broke down and Chris pulled her into his arms. Her sobs breaking his heart.
?She?ll be ok? he whispered. Hoping it would come true for Beans, and Jax.
At the hospital
5p.m.
Tally, Chris, Anya, and Bethan had joined Beans in the waiting room. The first thing they noticed was a fist size hole in the wall.
?What happened?? Tally asked. Beans held up and bandaged hand.
?Ohhh? she said (he punched the wall.) They watched as tears began forming in his eyes and he angrily wiped them away. He had to be strong. He had to, for Jax.
?What did the doctors say?? Chris asked.
?She?s very lucky that she?s not in a coma, but they don?t know if she can have children when she?s older. She had to get thirty stitches in her head to seal up the gash. All they know for sure it that she?ll recover.? Beans said. Naimh Duffy (Jax mom) came in and saw them.
?The hospital called and told me what happened.? She said, she watched Beans stand up with tears in his eyes. She went over and hugged him.
?So what did happen to Jax?? Bethan asked.
?She was hit over the head with a blunt object, beaten and raped.? Naimh said, softly. She never thought that would ever happen to Jax. She curse softly wishing she would have let Jax live with her dad.
?Mrs. Duffy?? a doctor called.
?Yes?? she asked.
?She?s awake.? The doctor said.
?Oh thank God. Where is she?? she asked.
?Room 115 in the ICU? the doctor said. The group began heading towards the ICU.
Jax Room
Naimh was the first one in. She never had seen her daughter look so innocent.
?Jaxquelyn?? she asked softly.
?Mum?? she asked, Naimh went over and hugged her daughter.
?Do you know why you?re here?? she asked her daughter.
?Yea. I didn?t see anything.? Jax said, knowing her mother would ask.
?That?s good.? She said.
?Where?s Beans?? Jax asked, not shocked that she wanted to see Beans.
?In the hall. I?ll get him.? She said.
A few minutes later Beans went inside. She watching him stop for a second then go over to her.
?Jax, I?m sorry.? He whispered, hugging her.
?Why?? she asked.
?It?s my fault.? He said.
?No, its not? Jax said.
?Yes? he said.
?No? she said
?Yes? he said.
?NO? she said, he sighed, and held her in his arms. She placed her head on his chest and sighed. He began to hear soft sobs coming from her, and held her tighter.
?Jax, look up at me please? he said. With a sniffle she looked up.
?Sorry, I didn?t mean to cry all over you.? She said.
?It?s ok.? He said, then added.
?Jax, I can?t imagine what?s just happened to you, because I?m not a girl, but I want you to know I?m here for you.? Beans told her.
?Thanks? she muttered into his shirt.
?And I?m going to stick with you as long as you need me, whenever you need me, and where ever? Beans announced.
?Like 24Seven?? (Couldn?t resist that ?) Jax asked. He nodded and smiled at her. She liked that idea.
?Even staying the night with me?? she asked, sounding confused, trying not to give away her delight.
?Of course? he murmured looking deep into her eyes. She slowly released him and looked away for a few moments.
?Thank you.? She said.
?What are soul mates for?? he asked. He leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. When he let go she pulled him down and kissed him on the lips.
Beans wasn?t shocked about this at all. He?d been waiting for a moment to do that but she beat him to the punch. He kissed her back without hesitation. Breathing heavily the broke and kissed again. He finally felt ready to tell his beloved Jaxquelyn the truth.
?Jaxquelyn I love you.? He said.
?I love you too Heinz? she said
