Even before I had read all of the "soap" story I thought you and the ol' fella sounded like the odd couple !. Anyhow at least he is not like his Mother... the old bat, she had no running water and used to boil her water in a kettle. As our sister and I got older she used to "invite" us for tea. I loved going only for the food she had as we could not afford the treats she had. I swear she got her kicks out of us washing up. She put the scalding water from the kettle into the basin and used her best china cups...... God, if you asked for COLD water to add to the scalding water she would look aghast and say "no and don't you break my nice china cups". Old witch. She loved Willie tho'. The day he was born was a Sunday. Dad had given my sister and I money to go to the cinema. We were on our way home past Granny's hose and she called us in. The usual tea time thing went on.... Hours later she asked whether we would like a brother or sister, I said a brother. "Well" she said. you have a brother born today. Dad came soon after to collect us. I was glad he was there.
