It's been a full year since they started the idea and they'r still basically chasing around in circles. They are still planning to use one of the two designs they showed us a while ago which both have very limited climbing and extremely limited bouldering space. The building designers still want glass walls for half of it while us climbers want a big box we can drill hand holds in. Sir Bonners called it "a second rate wall" and we said some very good points such as "anybody can boulder at any time, but a climbing wall needs training and pairs of people" and "people won't be able to see through the glass during the day anyway so what's the point?" The designers seem to be listening a little more now though so maybe our message is finally getting through. They have agreed to start looking at other areas that could be removed (mainly the cafe) to have a seperate boudering wall. So we'll just have to wait and see what they say next time we meet.
