Subject: Is life living off of life considered violence ?

Life lives off of life. It doesn't matter if your a vegetarian or eat animal flesh. Everything you eat is a life form .In order to live we must kill something and eat it .So in this material existence , to sustain this existence , we need to steal the life force from another life form to continue our own existence.

Can Peace ever be obtained in an existence where life feeds off of life ?
It seems this existence could be considered highly barbaric.Or is it just the beauty of the Creation ?
So in a way it can be seen as being violent by killing and eating another life form.

Do plants have consciousness ? I believe so. Then again I'm kind of naive. I wonder sometimes if plants are of a higher spiritual consciousness than Humans.
Plants seem to meditate all day . They don't need to look for food. The food seems to come to them .They never have to travel.They just seem perfectly content just being .

The food thing hits me funny cause I sometimes feel chained and resticted because my body always seems to require eating another life form.I see it as an infringement on my freedom. Not to mention the freedoms of the life forms I must steal to sustain myself.

I'm not a theif. I don't like theives. I won't even accept something I need from somebody if I don't like the person or the energy they emmit.
But The more I think of eating other life forms , the more I questain my honesty.
Can one live off of another source of energy besides the energies we obtain by the ingestation of life forms? Surely energy is all around us. And it's constantantly transforming into other forms.Energy never dies or gets born . It just changes form.

So surely there must be a way to absorb energy from another source other than consumption of life forms.Or are there set rules of this existence that governs us towards the continuation of a violent existence.

I'm in my 40's and the whole time I remember being alive , there was always a war some place.Do I believe Peace will ever come to Earth ? It doesn't seem so.
I don't think it is possible because of the laws of physics that govern this place.
The word Peace , does it have a real meaning that is obtainable on this plane and can a living example be displayed?. Kind of like the word Utopia.A word which has no examples that can be seen or touched on Earth .A word with an unobtainable meaning .


I think I just got stuck in a corner of the maze in my mind.

I was going to take some time to come up with a response, but then I figured that the most honest response will come as I type, So here goes.

Let me start off with the word Peace. I feel that peace is obtainable, however it wont ever be. Lets face it, war brings money, sad but true. Without war, our economy would dwindle. I don't like war, don't get me wrong. I would much rather live in Utopia than where we are now. Ever since 9-11, alot of people have been searching for their spirituality. Many have turned to church, others have turned to other forms of spirituality. Nothing wrong with that, I have found that in my small community, people are nicer, more pleasant and willing to help those in need much more than they were before 9-11. I do not believe in coincidence. Everything happens for a reason. I believe that 9-11 happened because too many of us were loosing our spirituality. Now, we are in this war. Sad, but maybe, just maybe it is worth it. I try not to get into political debates very often. The old saying goes, don't talk religion or politics..that is so true. So many people have their strong beliefs, and then sadly, many get defensive.

Now for the living off life. This is a hard one for me. As far as time goes back, most life (with the exception of plants) live off another life force. My thoughts, it's the beauty of Creation. Our bodies need so many vitamins and proteins, that are found in another life force. Our soul doesn't, but for our existence, our bodies do. (I hope that made sense). I guess what I'm getting at, is this is just the nature of our existence (along with the existence of everyother being) that we need to take our life force from another. It's almost Ironic if you really think about it. We were created with this barbaric streak in us, yet we are (well many of us) are searching for this higher way of living. As you mentioned, everything we eat is a life form. Plants, animals, all life force. It almost is comical when I hear a vegetarian say " I will not eat anything that was alive" (I have heard that from a few). Well, plants are alive aren't they? I'm not getting defensive here, just trying to point out the irony in that statement. I guess, we are what we are. There is no changing that, if we want to exist in our bodies.
