In light of the Earth day celebration this coming April 16-22, 2008, the Miss Earth Foundation is coming up with an AVP to be played every film showing in selected malls in cooperation with the Center for Environment Awareness and Education.

The objective is to show images of the environment both the good and the bad. If you have photos that you want to be included in this AVP, please email your photos to cathyuntalan@ gmail.com subject: PHOTO FOR AVP. Photos must be HD quality because this will be shown in cinemas, with at least 1920 × 1080. The better the quality, the better the chance to be chosen. You may submit as many photos as you want.

Vi en el forum mexicano la presentacion preliminar de Jimena en MU, en traje de bano muy aplaudida, pero en traje de noche, el adefecio que le pusieron, si en fot se veia espantoso en el video se vio pero, con razon no clasifico unido a su inmadurez. Asi que no te esperances que clasifiquemos este 2008 tambien. Soy de la idea que deben cambiar las cabezas de las organizaciones por gente con mas vision, los de ahora se durmieron en sus laureles. Apparently they offered the winner a lucrative one year "Modelling contract" in New York with a “Top Modelling Agency” to the winner and various cash prizes to her and the other runners up.

Throughout the pageant the name of this "TOP" modelling agency in New York was kept a secret and it was never publicly announced, it has now been revealed that Mihret Abebe, The winner did not get the Promised Modelling contract promised by Gadol Ton and Tsegaye C. Didana the manager of Artaele Enterprise the organizers of this years contest, ostensibly because it never existed it was simply a huge rouse to get as many desperate young Ethiopian girls many who have big dreams to go to the United States to register for their Miss Word Ethiopia 2007 pageant. The official websites at WWW.MISSWORLDETHIOPIA.COM and WWW.missethiopiapageants.COM have also not surprisingly been taken down! just as his own WWW.Konjonternational.com Website

In addsition the organisers boasted that they would be sending An Ethiopian Male to:

JUST WHO IS: GADOL TON WILSON

The National Director, Gadol ton Wilson, an American has been recently allegedly stripped of the Miss Word Ethiopia franchise for other dubious promises and illegal practices, like preparing a Miss World Ethiopia USA pagenat, A Miss World Ethiopia Europe pageant where the winners would be flown to Ethiopia to compete against local Ethiopina girls, which clearly violated the terms of Miss World residency requirements, and he thus secretly disappeared from Ethiopia only to reappear in The United States with big dreams and claims to plan to host Miss Intercontinental 2008 In the US Virgin Islands. One only wonders what dubious prizes he will offer?

Gadol ton Wilson is no stranger to controversy he is an African American "Missionary" turned fashion designer, turned pageant guru, turned kickboxing promoter, who seems to have used his “Christian Missionary” status in Ethiopia to do anything but preach he was just a business man who allegedly conned a lot of girls and Business people while he was there.

Sadly the current organisers have simply followed in his footsteps and promsied lavish prizes to the unsuspecting girls who never got any thing.

He has extensively lived and fed of Hyatt Ahmed Miss ETHIOPIA WORLD 2003’s fame for the last 4 years and failed to produce any subsequent impact on the Miss World Pageant and even sent an alleged stripper one year to represent Ethiopia, Hyatt for her part in her desire to be the major famous Ethiopian girls has been at his beck and call over the years and has been used to do a lot of his dirty work

That is the question that is raised by many pageant fans who are reacting with disgust to a posting in several message boards.

This posting alludes to an ugly incident in Miss World involving several candidates who had been sexually harassed by drunken and lascivious Chinese men during a dinner party.

This unfortunate situation is substantiated by Miss Norway Lisa Marie Moen Jünge in her blog in Norwegian (see the November 22 entry entitled, " En Laaang Oppsummering."), and suggests that security in Miss World is poor.

A reliable source also informed me that Miss Sierra Leone Fatima Turay had been caught stealing from the other contestants and that nothing was done to reproach or discipline her.

Has Miss World turned into a world of forced prostitution and theft?

I remove all good things I said about Julia Morley. She's just a PIMP!!! I've lost all respect for her. All Miss World stuff is just a hypocrisy and show off. CHARITY MY FOOT! You hide your real face under charity you bitch! You're just a mother whore Julia!

I ADVISE ALL NATIONAL PAGEANT DIRECTORS TO BE VERY CAREFUL SENDING THEIR DELEGATES TO MISS WORLD, AND YOU MAY EVEN ASK YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTANT IF WHAT HAPPENED WAS NOT TRUE. THEY MAY BE EMBARASSED TO SAY WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THEIR REP*TATION, BUT THIS SHOULD BE STOPPED SO AS IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN IN THE FUTURE!

Once somebody came to say about the girls had to sit with old man etc...MY FRIEND WHO IS MISS OF MY COUNTRY CONFIRM ME THIS AND SORRY I CANNOT SAY FROM WHICH COUNTRY I AM NOR WHICH MISS IT IS, I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS.

LISTEN to my friend...

First we were told to dress up for dinner but we were'nt told where we were going or what we are gonna be doing.. only to find out when we got to the venue.. we were being showcased at a sponsor dinner.. whom the guests ARE ONLY MEN, old chinese men.. then after that they made us sit down at a table with 10 men, just me and my roomate, sitting separately from each other.. which we found very uncomfortable.. if that wasn,t enough.. we got HARASSED.. literally being touched in the wrong places, grabbing us, grabbing my ass.. they were so rude, ignorrant and uncivilized.. soo we went to our head of security to complain.. then they put me and some of the girls who felt uncomfortable to side because we were being harrased.. then we were supposed to leave BUT NOOOO.. Mrs. Julia Morley said we had to go back to our tables and sit back down.. which i totally refused to do.. only to find out that these men paid $400 dollars for us each so that we can sit down and let them violate us.. some of the girls were being cornered, their boobs being grabbed, one of the one of the girls got dragged on the floor as if we were dogs.. i felt like a prostitute.. SECURITY didn't even bother to help us.. Thanks to our chaperons, because they were the only ones who thought the situation was disgusting aside from us.. finally they decided that we can go back to the hotel after waiting for about 2hours of arguing if we could leave.. when were on the bus home.. the son of the owner comes up and says they apologize and didn't know that was going to happen.. and that we were going to the beach tomorrow to have fun as if we were upset kids, if given candy we'll be happy again.. i thought it was completely bullshit and so did some of the other girls so we decided to have a talk with the organization about this fiasco.. a group of us went up to the office to discuss the issue, stressing on our points and telling them how we felt.. the ORGANIZATION couldn't give us a perfect explanation as to what happend.. they were un sincere and plastic.. because clearly it was impossible for them not to know what it really was, they were putting us into.. All for the money.. they had to put us in an enviroment which made us feel inferior of who we are.. they couldn't explain it because for 1. they didn't tell us what the occasion was about, because if they did i would have refused to go. 2. they had sitting arrangements 2 girls per table sitting separately to 10 men. 3. Not enough security to protect us. 4. we were sold to our sponsors for $400 each. 5. one of the girls got dragged on the floor as if we were dogs. 6. Completely harassed and violated as a person and as women. AND they say "MISS WORLD" is all about "respect for women, femininity, equality" bullshit if they had us go through that.. with that said, i dont care about winning the crown anymore if it means losing my respect as a woman and as person.. what dissapoints me most.. is most of the girls didn't complain to the office even if they were violated all because they want to win that stupid crown.. i believe they have eaten up they're pride and lost respect in themselves all because they were scared.. i made the decision to speak up.. i just think that people should know what happend to us because clearly it is NOT RIGHT..

A juzgar por el interés que han suscitado los acontecimientos, todo PARECE indicar que el mal que se le ha tratado de hacer a Rivera HA TRABAJADO más bien a su favor.

En términos de promoción y exposición, no hay duda del provecho que han tenido tanto Ingrid como la Organización de Miss Puerto Rico Universe. Ésta es la primera vez que, a ocho meses de celebrarse Miss Universe, una candidata captura la atención de medios en todo el mundo y de Donald Trump.

Sin embargo, habrá que ver si esto no revierte en su contra eventualmente durante su participación en el certamen internacional.

Allí ya llegará con ventaja sobre el resto de las delegadas y quién sabe si enfrente situaciones similares a las que acaba de experimentar, sobre todo el recelo de otras candidatas por la exposición que ha tenido.

Sus compañeras podrían verla como la persona a vencer u opacar por exposición, lo que pondrá mayor presión sobre ella. Y, ciertamente, los jurados podrían ser más severos con ella precisamente por ver qué tenga que ofrecer más allá de la controversia.

Una fuente policial vinculada a la pesquisa indicó a El Nuevo Día que la investigación que se realiza sobre el traje y los maquillajes PODRIA NO rendir frutos debido al tiempo que ha transcurrido. Un sismo de 7.3 grados en la escala de Richter con epicentro a ochenta millas de profundidad cerca de la isla de Martínica se sintió hoy en Puerto Rico a las 3.05 de la tarde. El director de la Agencia Estatal para el Manejo de Emergencias y Desastres (AEMED), Nazario Lugo Burgos, informó que el efecto del temblor en Puerto Rico se sintió como un sismo de 6.2 grados y que por ello, se produjeron desalojos en edificios públicos, estatales, municipales y privados. Indicó que se están evaluando los posibles daños producidos por el temblor y alertó ante las posibles réplicas, pero sostuvo que hasta el momento no se han reportado daños en estructuras.

This year's Miss Earth Pageant has a total of 90 contestants and has been divided into 3 groups. Each group consist of 30 girls each were sent to different areas. One in Southern Luzon in the Philippines, one in Laguna and Pangasinan Province also in the Philippines and the another group went to Vietnam. Here are the videos of GROUP 2 while in Vietnam. The organizers in Vietnam decided to have a special show and minor award but these awards HAS NO BEARING to the actual judging and selection of this year's semi-finalists. Enjo the videos.

Congress' bill would undo companionship exemption

Get your foot in the door of independent and assisted living communities by offering discharge planning services designed to get their residents back to the facility from the hospital. This strategy has allowed Dana Rambow to get her foot in the door of four communities and generate about $860,000 in annual revenue for her company AristoCare Home Health Services in Tucson, Ariz.

As a marketing strategy, Rambow offers independent and assisted living communities the services of her registered nurse (RN) liaison who conducts free "discharge/transition planning" for their residents, she says. The program is designed to help new independent or assisted living residents return to the facility after a hospital stay or transition into their new facility, she says.

The expectation is that many of these transition clients will eventually use AristoCare for any personal care or private duty services they require while in the facility, she says.

And it's working. Rambow is bringing in about $860,000 per year in packaged services and hourly private duty care she's providing in four communities, she says.

Por primera ocasión, la Organización de Nuestra Belleza Hispana USA, enviara a una embajadora de la belleza hispana en Estados Unidos, para formar parte del grupo de candidatas al título Reina Hispanoamericana Internacional 2007 en Santa Cruz, Bolivia. En esta ocasión, Nuestra Belleza Hispana USA dirigida por Ariel Betancourt , eligió a la ex-representante de la Comunidad Dominicana en US 2007 y semifinalista del Miss Republica Dominicana Universo 2007, Sarah Rivera, quien en la mejor disposición, aceptó viajar al país hermano, como representante de todos los hispanos residentes en los Estados Unidos en este magno evento.

El Reinado Hispanoamericano Internacional es organizado por la empresa Promociones Glorias dirigida por la Sra. Gloria de Limpias, una de las agencias promotora de nuevos talentos, modelaje y de belleza más importantes de ese país. El principal objetivo de llevar a cabo un certamen de este tipo, es lograr reunir a los países hermanos de latinoamerica representados por verdaderas embajadoras de belleza de diferentes culturas y lugares de origen. Además, de poder ser una plataforma para lograr proyectar turísticamente al pais de Bolivia, siendo sede de un evento a nivel internacional. En cuanto a las actividades que las participantes internacionales tendrán durante su estancia en Santa Cruz Bolivia, se mencionan visitas con autoridades del pais, con auspiciadores, recorridos por los principales puntos turísticos de Santa Cruz, y a la vez visitaran a Paraguay para la gala de la belelza Hispanoamericana etc. El certamen se llevará a cabo desde el 14 al 27 de Octubre en Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Sarah Rivera de 22 años de edad, modelo professional, estudiante de Comunicacion y periodismo. Esta esbelta joven con una impresiva estatura de 5’11’’, pesa 120 libras y medidas 89-60-90, ojos marrones y pelo color castaño. La Srta. Rivera se siente mas que segura y lista para competir por la corona del reinado. Miss Philippines NADIA LEE CIEN SHAMI, a 19 year-old Jordanian-Filipina beauty from Mindanao in Southern Philippines is this year's favorite to win the 2007 Miss International crown. She is a veteran pageant competitor. Nadia won the Miss Earth Philippines-Air title when she was 17 years old, a popular radio personality in Mindanao. She's going for the 5th Miss International title for the Philippines.

Note: There are 2 Asian countries that won the Miss International crown. Lebanon once and the Philippines 4 times (1964, 1970, 1979 and 2005)

What the Future Holds for Miss International?

Miss International was once a glorious beauty pageant with a huge following. It enjoyed prestige and timeless beauties once graced it. Now, faced with various threats, the pageant is on the brink decay. Is it really or is it something that some quarters would like us to believe?

Where it all began Miss International traces its origins in Long Beach, California which incidentally is also the home of Miss Universe. The first ever winner of the pageant is Stella Marquez Zawadsky of Colombia who is now the pageant director of Bb. Pilipinas. The pageant debuted just as the swinging 60’s is on its initial swing. The pageant thrived in Long Beach for seven years and later moved to Japan as a part of an exposition. It once again returned to United States but since 1972, it has permanently called Japan as its home.

The peak of success

There is no doubt that Miss International is a prestigious pageant with a clear platform. During its heyday, the pageant is a favorite among the Japanese and used to draw very large crowd. Top class women once graced the pageant and still attract top caliber women. For example, Dayanara Torres before she went on to capture the Miss Universe crown was once a finalist at the pageant. The pageant was hosted by top Japanese presenters and was graced by great personas in Japanese society. TV ratings were encouraging and sponsorships were providing adequate revenue. Miss International also proved to be a distinct pageant with a different trend. Although it recognized Venezuela as a superpower, Miss International is yet to crown an Indian woman despite the winning streaks of the latter at Miss World. The Philippines is also a superpower in the pageant winning 4 crowns even though that this Asian country is waning at Miss Universe. Poland, which is also barely heard at the other Big Three is a force to reckon with at Miss International with 3 crowns to boast.

The decline

Last year, only 53 women representing their respective countries participated in the pageant. This is the lowest turn-out for a major pageant. In comparison, Miss Universe attracted 86 delegates, Miss World welcomed 104 delegates and Miss Earth got 82 participants.

I vs U

The trend is that the Japanese attention shifted from Miss Japan International to Miss Japan-Universe pageant. More so that now Japan holds the Miss Universe title thanks to Riyo Mori. The decline of Miss International is linked to the decline of its national counterpart which is Miss Japan International. The latter is no longer the premier beauty pageant spectacle in Japan thanks to the intensive overhauling of Miss Universe-Japan that produces strings of successes. There are also contrasting priorities. Miss Japan International pageant attracts more demure Japanese women. Miss Japan-Universe on the other hand is looking for a bon vivant woman. In short, one is traditional and the other is modern and it seems that Miss Japan-Universe proved that it is more attune with the times. Less interest on Miss Japan International meant less interest on Miss International. It is no coincidence that the pageant is experimenting on China. Last year, both Tokyo and Beijing played as hosts. China is a more welcoming place and could attract new fans. So successful the experiment that this year, come October 15, Beijing will solely host the event.

PR Trouble

Last year’s Miss International was also barely covered by the media. Even Missosology.Org failed to extensively cover the event in contrast with what happened in the 2005 edition. It seems that in Beijing, organizers failed to provide a safe and efficient way to handle journalists covering the event. Even before that, the pageant is not friendly to foreign media. The language used in the pageant for example is Japanese signifying the fact that it is concentrating more on the domestic market – a market where it is now losing ground. The pageant therefore could not be beamed live across the world.

The MTQI issue

Of course, the supposed quiet decline of Miss International is something that other upstart and wannabe beauty pageants would like to cheer about. Globalbeauties.com for example is using its popularity in busily promoting the Miss Tourism Queen International (MTQI) despite the fact that it only covered the pageant last year. The website is also suggesting that MTQI will be included as one of the top pageants. It was learned however by Missosology that Globalbeauties.com founder Henrique Fontes sat as one of the judges at MTQI while he is also the national director of the pageant in Brazil. The issue is an emphatic fact that upstart and never-heard pageants are willing to flex their muscles just to gain to prestige. Such move can indeed endanger Miss International. Miss International of course is way beyond MTQI when it comes to prestige. Miss International for example can bank to its rich history. The public perception is also a good measure. For example, the 2005 victory of Precious Lara Quigaman at Miss International 2005 received wide public and media attention in the Philippines while Justin Gabionza’s MTQI victory went unnoticed.

This year and beyond

Is Miss International struggling to stay alive? Maybe. The number of participating countries is a good measure. However, the 2007 edition is quite promising. Priscila Perales of Mexico, a top ten finishers at Miss Universe 2006 will be gracing the pageant. There are several countries that will eventually send their first ever Miss International contestant. Even Indonesia is coming back after decades of absence. As mentioned, Beijing will be the sole host of the pageant, which means that the organizers realized that it needs to expose itself more to an audience outside Japan. Miss International no doubt is still a beauty pageant with prestige but like any organization, it is can experience its low point too. If anything, the pageant is not as bad as what others would like us to think.
