I just recently finished The Lord Of The Rings. I watched The Fellowship of the Ring, and The Two Towers before reading the book. Incidentally, I finished the book before I watched Return Of The King. I must say that the movies did make me want to read the books to fill in whatever director Peter Jackson could not put into the movies. I must add in a way I wished I had read the book years ago instead of seeing two of the three installments before hand. I couldn't help imagine Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, etc etc.. Seeing the actors in my mind while reading the book kind of spoiled it for me. I can't help feeling that I if I had read the books first instead of watching the movies first I might have enjoyed them more.
