okay, well you know the concept of the show though. In the current season, there was a contestant who was a man, probalby about 50sih, in real life he's the exec VP of some big company. On the show, he didn't have much to say to alot of the younger crowd, particularly the younger women. Rather, he spent a good deal of his time accomplishing things like catching fish, gathering wood, etc. When it came time to build a shelter, this man sort of organized what had been chaos and took it upon himself to assign out tasks so it would be built quickly, efficiently and well. After the work was done that evening, most of the group (made up mostly of the younger crew)stayed up and goofed around and told stories about their sex lives, etc, meanwhile this guy went to sleep. He was subsequently voted out. Although he never made a disparaging mark about women, the women all considered him a woman hater (seemingly because he seemed to find it easier to hang with the other men). They also accused him of being arrogant, and resented his barking out orders. Hence the voting off. Obviously this is just a game, but what seemed to me to happen was inate traits of maleness are what led to his dismissal. Yeah, he seemed less fun. He was interested in accomplishment, not chit chat. Some men are highly geared this way. I think this was kind of a microcosm of a societal attitude that's in play now; this kinds of masculine traits are now looked down upon and devauled, particularly by women. Why? In many cases as in my example, these are traits that are good for societal advancement. Also, these masculine traits have a right to exist as much as female traits do. Yet it seems to be the vogue to celebrate the female psychology while dismissing the male as outdated at best, dangerous at worst and I just don't think that's so.
