About 2 years ago, when the whole Iraq debate was just getting heated in Congress, Mr. Rangel started the nasty rumor about reinstating the draft in order to get Americans scared about going into Iraq, and also to bring attention to the small numbers or Reps and Senators whose children are in the military. Of course, he knew that Joe Public would think he was serious and be up in arms over it and not want to go into Iraq. Since then, it's expanded to actual legislation, but make no mistake, THIS IS ALL TONGUE-IN-CHEEK. Don't pay any more attention to Charlie Rangel. That's exactly what he wants. Believe me, he's not serious. I was on the Hill when he started the whole thing, and I'm in Iraq now. Every branch of the military has met it's recruiting and retention goals for this fiscal year except the National Guard in SPITE of a war going on in the asshole of the world. The government doesn't need draftees, nor can it pay for them.

>General question for anyone who cares to comment: Why
>do liberals pull such chady tricks like the Draft
>bills to try and wiun elections? Need I remind
>everyone this is the same party that in 2000 tried to
>buy votes from the mentally challenged with doughnuts
>and soda? And from homeless people with cigarettes?
>Why can't Democrats just stick with discussing policy?
