Congratulations to Chet

I always thought wrestling was the hardest sport at Globe High. They used to make us run to Circle K in the first hour, do calisthenics in the 2nd hour, and then wrestle for about 2 hours. The total practice time was about 4 hours. It wasn't uncommon for guys to lose 4-8 pounds of water. The guys from the lighter weight divisions would do this before a weigh-in session then binge afterwards.

When I was at Globe, George Cassa won the Heavyweight Championships. From what I remember, it was against a guy from Marana. George was 6'5" and 294 pounds as a 17 year-old senior. The guy from Marana was about the same size. It brings back memories of the movie "Visionquest."

Hello,

I hope Chet is ready for the next level of college wrestling. When I was an undergrad, I went to a school where the 190 pound collegiate freshman had been a 3 time state champion in Chicago. He could bench 400 pounds. But as a freshman at my undergrad school, he lost over half of his matches. College takes competition to a much higher level. But dedication and persistence can help.
