I've lived 1000 miles away from Globe for over 26 years. In 1984, I was in a cooking contest at the mall in my adopted city, and the newspaper reporter covering the event was non other than my former best-friend when I was in the sixth grade, Judy Harrington. It had been well over fifteen years since I had last seen her, but I still recognized her. Then about three or four years ago, while I was running a small bakery here in this same town, a lady came in to buy a cake. I looked at her and said, "I know you, but from a long time ago." She replied, "I'm not from here, I'm from Arizona." Chills. It was Susan Martinez, the older sister of another good friend of mine when I was a senior at MHS, and I hadn't seen her since 1971, over 30 years ago. To see TWO people that I knew, one from Globe and one from Miami was such a kick. What are the chances of chance meeting two people from G/M 1000 miles away in a town of 125,000 in northern Colorado. It is a small world, paint or no paint.

Susan, it is a VERY small world. About 20 years ago, I was walking into my office building in midtown Manhattan and heard some woman call out "Robert!" Since no has called me "Robert" since high school, I didn't turn around. Then the voice called out more loudly, "ROBERT!" I turned around, to see a blonde waving from a taxi. I obviously looked puzzled. "Robert, it's Rana." And it was, Rana Hunter. Long story short, eventually Rana became our real estate broker (she was with Trump Residential), both selling our old apartment and helping us buy our current apartment. Gotta stay with your friends from Globe, even 2400 miles away!
