 Tristan turned to Vance and Jack, smiling grimly. "All right--I've got a spell that can work on Montrose's evil impulses, make her doubt her intentions---and destroy a lot of her undead servants in the process. It won't turn her completely, but it should cause enough confusion for us to take her down. But we have to cast it BEFORE she finishes the Summon--afterward, it'll be too weak to do much good. So what I need from you...is a distraction, so I can get close enough to cast the spell without being noticed--"

Then he stopped talking as they caught up with the rest of Montrose's acolytes, not wanting to blow their cover. Tristan looked back at them and nodded, trusting their judgements about what to do next.
