How was the Turkey Day for all? Sylvia, Janelle, and I feasted on a 20 pound bird (lots of leftovers), and generally had a fine holiday. Unfortunately Janelle's hours went lame on her way back to connecticut and she was rescued by her brother.
Now the front of the castle is appropriately decked for Christmas, and will soon seek the perfect tree.

...Janelle's hours went lame on her way back to connecticut ...

do you mean "horse"? Or has Janelle's tempus fugited? I can sympathize, my seconds ran away from a duel once...;-)

P.S. I made a kick-arse *vegan* chocolate pie and still have some left. Anyone jonseing for serious death-by-chocolate should swing by and have a piece before it disappears (down my gullet!).

I did indeed mean horse. The Friar who tutored us was usually in his cups before noon, which makes for periodic strange errors.

It's so nice to hear people talk about good times at the holidays. Mine are more like the Dennis Leary movie "The Ref." Fortunately, the cast was small this year ;-)

Indeed, my poor horse is more than lame...the plug fell out of it's oil pan, turning my engine into scrap metal. :-0
Thankfully, big brother came to the rescue and a friend drove me to work on Monday and from there to the car rental. Working out the "major surgery" to my poor "horse" now. ;-)

Additionally, I managed to alarm my poor parents by having my first ever nose bleed while helping to clean up after Thanksgiving dinner...followed by 2 more that same night! Saw my ENT today who says that it was just a nose bleed and has healed nicely...the in office surgery that I had last month is healing nicely as well. *whew* :-)

On a brighter note, I had a great visit with my parents, Thankgiving Dinner was wonderful and Mom and Dad took me to see some new parts of the county during our Thankgiving Drive. Dad's X-mas lights and decorations look good too! Mom and Dad's cat came to visit me in the wee hours of the morning and was very dissappointed when I refused to get up and play with her. ;-) Doggie is easier to please. He just wants me to pet him once or twice...then he amuses me by backing out of the room (it's too narrow for him to turn around):-D

::knees hit floor...bows repeatedly:: Thank you for the most sacred instruction in the ways of healthier eating through chocolate. I cant wait to try it out!Not exactly guilt free, but pretty close. Will guard the recipie well. Did I ever mention what happened when someone TRIED to swipe anything chocolate related from me?
But that is a tale for another day....

Hello Wilfred, we had a very nice Thanksgiving and remembered to give thanks that we were all there and for all of our blessings, even the annoying ones.

I too would be interested in the vegan chocolate pie recipe. My daughter and son-in-law are vegans and since they are presenting me with a grandchild next year, maybe I should make them one when they come for Christmas.

ingredients:
1 pound dairy-free semi-sweet chocolate chips (Ghiradelli makes them)
1 pound drained and mashed silken tofu
1 pie crust (I like the graham crust for this)

Melt chocolate in a double boiler. When it is nice and smooth, reduce heat and fold in the tofu. Keep beating with a fork until smooth (it comes out better if you don't use an electric beater).
Pour into crust and refrigerate.

Can soy milk/rice milk be substituted for the tofu?

I don't think so, that would probably be too watery. You can try it though, it might make a nice pudding! :-)
