I am aware of the legalities regarding crash remains: I have already been in contact with RAF Innsworth regarding the procedures involved. Besides, I would not consider going into a remote area without contacting a park warden or the land owner beforehand, as there is a real element of risk should the weather turn bad.

Not one example of the 3,300 typhoons built remains that saw action. The purpose of my project is not just to put a complete aircraft together but to also honour the dead by the aircraft being a memorial to the Hawker Typhoon pilots who flew in it. I have found people forget that a restored aircraft has a deeper meaning that just being a museum exhibit. The old typhoon pilots I've met over the years have certainly left me in no doubt on this issue: they want my project to succeed.

I consider it more responsible to save rare aircraft parts and restore them and put them on public display than leaving them in a remote place to corrode away or be taken by scrap metal merchants. The Fleet Air Arm museum only about two years ago collected a great deal of parts from a crash site in Scotland to enable them to put together a WW2 Fairy Barracuda. I don't know about you but I would much prefer to see a complete aircraft than bent metal, but then I'm an aircraft preservationist/enthusiast so that makes me biased.
