Fly iI is...poor. Seth Brundle's insanity was caused not because "the fly was taking over his mind", as many have said. Biochemical problems were a part of it, but the main reason was that he had to deal with the HORRIBLE things happening to his body, a theme in many Cronenberg films. In Fly II, Martin is born with all of his genetics intact. Seth's condition was the result of an accident, and he became genetically malformed. Martin EVOLVES instead of disintegrating. Yeah, he goes a little off his rocker, but that's natural for his genetics.

Don't forget that Martin had a higher percentage of human DNA in him than his father did (his mother was human, his father was half-human). Maybe he retained more of a human thought process in his final stage?
