] Date Posted: 15:32:55 10/30/01 Tue What do you feel is single best moment in The Fly films? This can be a moment from each of the films, or a single moment that outshines all five. Frankly, I can't decide!!!!! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 23:26:20 10/30/01 Tue Greg, I find it difficult to decide as well! But these are my best bits from the fly86 (in no order) 1. BRUNDLE TELEPORTS HIMSELF Not only one of the best scenes in the fly, but one of the best scenes in any film! The expressions on Brundle's face as the mechanisms start up etc. Such an exiting scene, yet tinged with sadness. Brilliant! 2. BRUNDLE'S TEETHS FALLING OUT The look on his face is priceless! 3. "THAT'S DISGUSTING!" 4. BRUNDLE AND RONNIE CELEBRATE After the baboon is teleported this is, in essence, brundle and Ronnie's last moments of true happiness. 5. STATHIS FINALLY MEETS BRUNDLEFLY Quite a scary scene really. Chris [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 02:37:00 10/31/01 Wed There's this Electric Razor scene, in which Seth realizes for the first time that something is really wrong. Goldblum's face expression is incredible. He perfectly mimics the expression of awareness that something is very wrong. He smashes the Razor into the bath in absolute despair. The psychological phase of "Denial" is now over, and the next phase, "Awareness" is starting. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

The psychological phase of >"Denial" is now over, and the next phase, "Awareness" >is starting. It's true, Brundle seems to go through an entire 12-step program throughout the film. Actually, in a fanfic I'm planning for this site, we'll see what Brundle went through between the discovery of his fusion with the fly and the phone call one month later. Here are some of my favorite Goldblum facial expressions in the film: 1. Brundle loses his teeth, feels around for them with his tongue, then sighs and twists his lips in consternation. 2. Brundle violently accuses Ronnie of being jealous, then silently reinforces the point by widening his eyes at her. 3. Brundle is forced to look at himself in the mirror (literally and figuratvely) and realizes something went wrong. 4. The Insect Politics speech. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 14:04:08 10/31/01 Wed Man, can't agree more (about everything you said). You just reminded me why this fantastic movie gives me the chills every time anew. Oh, and another thing - I mentioned in another post that Cronenberg gives a special meaning to the songs. Well, the mirror you mentioned has another special meaning in all of Cronenberg movies. In all of them (The Fly, Crash, Dead Ringers, M. Butterfly) it's a way one is looking (literally AND figuratively) at himself or someone else. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 12:29:52 02/10/02 Sun Best Fly moments... 1) When Ronnie honours Seth's final request (I was depressed for the longest time...) 2) "Insect Politics" 3) Any time Seth and Ronnie kiss. I'm a hopeless romantic. 4) "Help me...please, help me..." 5) "Negative. Fusion of Brundle and fly on molecular-genetic level." Scary. 6) The entire scene with Brundlefly and Stathis. I just sat there screaming, "Get out! You're an annoying character, but GET OUT! Look up! He can climb on walls!" Then, during the hand- and foot-melting part, I just sat there with what must have been a look of absolute horror. Pretty cool... 7) "I seem to be striken by a disease with a purpose, wouldn't ya say?" 8) I just really like the part when Seth explains what happened, and says, "I'm the offspring of Brundle and housefly." Then, he looks at a beyond-upset Ronnie and says, "You look so pretty..." It's just so RANDOM! 9) "Baboon. Eat." 10)Any "monster sound" that Brundlefly makes - especially when he jumps down on Stathis. Sorry, that was lengthy. I just had trouble limiting myself to just a couple of things...
