I want to make my Dad a two handle longbox style call. I have some osage (hedge apple) and apple (golden delicious, I believe) and was thinking of making it glue-up style with an osage center, apple sides, and an osage paddle. First off, I've never made a paddle call before, just some scratch box style calls. I was thinking of making the center piece by using a table saw set at 5 degrees and then cutting out the sound chamber. I would then glue the apple sides on, mabye extending them into the handle area and then shaping them. Do you think this approach would work? What about the wood selection?
