I'll probably get e-mails from my callmaking friends for this but....It is possible to make a great box call from pine. In fact, I made one that I use myself. I'll take a picture of it for the site one day. It's a little one sider that I hand whittled. Yeah, you heard me right, I sat out in my yard one day and carved the thing.

But, let me explain this, there are different types of pine. What I am talking about is Yellow Pine. That white knotty stuff sold at Lowes and Home Depot I've never tried and don't think I'd want to. -Chip
