Hey Steve,

Wasn't much known about FIV until just a couple of years ago. But your cat may be what is known as a 'carrier'. He can have it and not show symtoms for years, but still infect others. Usually FIV will destroy the immune system within a matter of months. So may be hope.

On the food.... as you know cats are very finicky eaters. Try moistening his food until it is soft so he can chew it.

Also on the pills. There is a device called a pill shooter just for that. Like a small white syringe type. You just pop the pill in it and then open their mouth...real quick like and wa-la!
Also never sit him anywhere he is familar with while giving him the pill. Try like the top of the washing machine. Not in it mind you.

If they know you are hestitate about it... they will go for the ...well anything they can.

Also... if you have someone who can help hold the cat. Get them to hold him by the scruff of the neck while you tilt the head back. Only if he becomes nervous though...crowds make them skittish.

Oh...and also might want to try white rice and chiken liver cooked together with shredded carrots. Great for any animal that is unhealthy. I give it to mine once a month just for a little boost.

Hope some it helps.
Kangi
